You can support our work by simply reading and buying the products we have chosen through the links on our guide pages or through the shop links below.
Each of our pieces has many man-hours of work put into them—usually 10x what goes into a typical review these days on many tech blogs and magazines. If we recommend good products, our work is supported through a small kickback from the retailer when you make a purchase. But if we pick junk and you return it, we make nothing. We think that’s a fair system. (More on how our site works here.)
You’ll notice we usually link to Amazon for making a recommended purchase. We have been Amazon users for many years before this site existed and because of the convenience of Amazon Prime’s free two-day shipping and Amazon’s great customer service we think it’s the most trusted way to shop online. If you’d like to support us outside of buying a recommended product you can do so by shopping through any of the following links.

The Wirecutter does in-house testing and also interviews and consults existing literature from the best sources to make its decisions. We really like a lot of sites like Ars Technica, AnandTech, DPReview, CNET and many others. What we’ve found is that, among the sites with paywalls and subscriptions, Consumer Reports and America’s Test Kitchen/Cook’s Illustrated are basically some of the most wonderful places for deep testing around. We have much respect for their work and many of our own pieces would be impossible without theirs. So support them if you can afford to.
