This is their third movie together, so it’s hardly surprising Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart have developed a close friendship over the years.

Cementing their on-screen chemistry, Kristen was uncharacteristically smiley as she joined her co-star on the set of the untitled Woody Allen project in New York City on Thursday.

They two stars - who have previously starred in American Ultra and Adventureland together - appeared to be in great, content spirits during the day’s filming.

Kristen, 25, oozed heaps of elegance in a chic vintage ivory dress, which was teamed with a classy pair of courts, delicate earrings and a simple pearl necklace.

With her brunette tresses coiffed to one side in stylish curls, the Twilight actress concealed her eyes with retro round-rimmed sunglasses.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Jesse cut a dapper figure in a smart off-white suit, compete with a plain white shirt and a stripy tie.

Details for the plot of the film - to be released in 2016 - are being kept under wraps, but it has been reported to be set in New York's Chinatown in the 1940s.

Kristen previously revealed she wasn’t allowed to give much away about the upcoming film's plot.

'You're not supposed to talk about Woody Allen movies before they're out,' the Clouds of Sils Maria starlet said on Live! With Kelly and Michael in August.

'But I think I'm probably allowed to generally say (her character Teresa is) a stretch for me,' she admitted.

Over the past few weeks, cast and crew have been hard a work filming new scenes, with some shots also being filmed in and around Los Angeles.

This is the first time director Woody Allen has chosen to make a film in LA since his 1977 classic Annie Hall.

The stellar line-up also includes Blake Lively, Bruce Willis, Corey Stoll, Anna Camp, Parker Posey, Paul Schneider and Judy Davis.
