Floyd Mayweather chills out by the pool in Miami as undefeated champion and boxing superstar enjoys his retirement

  • Speculation over a rematch with Filipino Manny Pacquiao continues

Having hung up his gloves after outclassing Andre Berto in September, boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather has been making the most of retirement as he chills out by a pool in Miami.

The 38-year-old left the game as undefeated champion after securing the 49th win of his career, on unanimous points, over Berto at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather Jr was spotted relaxing poolside along with his entourage and looked in no mood to return to the ring any time soon despite the speculation of pundits as he sat watching football with his friends.

Discussing rumours of Mayweather's return and a rematch with Filipino rival Manny Pacquiao, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum cast doubt on fans' hopes.

'I don't think that fight (Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch) is on the drawing board. Floyd says that he's retired and I believe him that he's retired,' Arum told TMZ Sports.

'And as far as Manny is concerned, he's gonna do one more fight early next year before he becomes a senator in the Philippines, so I just don't see that fight happening.'

'It is absolutely false,' said Arum. 'There have been no negotiations, no discussions and because of the scheduling I don't think it's possible even to happen.'

Mayweather, who has been relishing life outside the ring with recent trips to the French Polynesia and Hawaii, is adamant that his victory over Berto was his last fight.

After securing his 49th professional win and equalling the record of the legendary Rocky Marciano, plenty of pundits suspect the allure another big-money pay packet could tempt him to change his mind.

Fans would welcome a 50th bout and a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, who recently hinted at retirement himself after one more fight - but he was not drawn on whether it could be against Mayweather.

'I think I'm ready [to retire]. I've been in boxing for more than 20 years,' he said in an interview with ABS-CBN last week.

'We can not say if there is a rematch or not. It depends, it depends.'
