He looks familiar! Prince Frederik to make a fleeting cameo in miniseries about his and Princess Mary's fairy tale romance after he drove past the Copenhagen TV set

  • Crown Prince Frederik has amazingly made a cameo in his own miniseries
  • He drove past filming of 'Mary: The Making of a Princess' in Copenhagen
  • The actor who played the prince, Ryan O'Kane, said he will be in the show
  • Although momentary, 'if you look really closely, you'll see Prince Frederik'
  • The biopic follows love story between Prince Frederik and Princess Mary
  • The Channel Ten miniseries will air across Australia in December

Crown Prince Frederik has astonishingly made a fleeting cameo appearance in the biopic created about him and Princess Mary - and it was by complete accident.

Travelling through Copenhagen in his car, Prince Frederik drove right past the set where scenes involving Emma Hamilton, who plays the royal's wife, were being filmed.

Ryan O'Kane, who plays the prince's on screen counterpart said that if viewers were to 'look really closely,' they would get a glimpse of the royal, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Mr O'Kane said while he missed out on travelling to the royals' home in Denmark, he was amazed at the Sydney locations chosen for filming integral parts of the two-hour biopic.

'We were the first film crew allowed to shoot in Government House,' he said. 'We used the water fountains and halls for a few scenes.'

Mr O'Kane described the set as 'emotional,' with their director often being reduced to tears when they landed a perfect take.

The actor prepared laboriously for the role, watching the royals' wedding speech 'like a hundred times,' and training with a dialect coach to nail the future King of Denmark's accent.

The initial courtship of the royal couple has been dubbed 'a modern day fairytale,' and the miniseries aims to replicate the Tasmanian beauty's journey with her royal beau.

The trailer for the two-hour biopic, which aired during the first episode of The Bachelorette, paints a grim picture of a resentful Queen Margrethe, who disapproved of her son's blossoming romance.

The Danish royal was not the only one to allegedly oppose the relationship, as scenes showed Mary and her father Dr John Donaldson engaged in a heated debate.

But in a televised interview after their engagement, the then Mary Donaldson said she had the support of her friends and family who said 'if you will be happy then you must go for that'.

The royal couple are said to be furious over the TV movie, which is also reported to include racy details of Frederik's playboy past.
