EXCLUSIVE: Lamar Odom's ex was due to face him in New York court next week in their nasty custody battle that has lasted six years as she arrives with their children to be at his bedside

  • Liza Morales and her two children with Lamar Odom left New York and arrived in Las Vegas where Lamar is fighting for his life
  • They have been battling over custody and child support issues for years and were due in court on October 22
  • Liza and Lamar were together for a decade - they met in high school - and have two children Destiny, 17, and Lamar Jr, 13 but never married
  • A third child, son Jayden, died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at six months
  • 'I don't think I'll forget the tight knot I felt in the pit of my stomach,' she wrote of day Lamar texted her to say he was marrying Khloe Kardashian

Lamar Odom was scheduled to appear in a New York City civil court next week in his bitter battle over custody and child support with his ex-partner Liza Morales, it has been revealed.

It brings into question whether or not the upcoming trial was one of the factors that led to the former basketball great being found unconscious on Tuesday at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada.

But despite the impending court date, Morales, 36, and their two children Destiny, 17, and Lamar Jr, 13 - along with the aunt who raised Lamar - left their home in Queens, New York, and were pictured arriving in to Las Vegas last night, where the former NBA star is fighting for his life.

Odom was found unresponsive after a 'crack-cocaine and opiate-fueled' weekend at a Nevada brothel, with sources claiming that his collapse also may have been sparked by the reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians.

The 35-year-old had been at the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, for days of partying. Owner Dennis Hof said Odom began foaming at the mouth and vomiting.

Odom and Morales met when they were in 9th grade at a high school in Queens, New York, and dated from 11th grade. They were together for over a decade.

Morales has said they bonded due to both coming from broken homes and they often spoke about marriage.

They were engaged at one point, but the basketball player would tell her NBA marriages don't last and they never tied the knot.

Their third child, Jayden, died tragically when he was only six months old of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Liza would later accuse him of having an affair with another woman.

She wrote in 2013: 'I struggled to deal with all the groupies around him and with whatever else that was going on and just stayed put. My denial came to an abrupt end in 2006 after the death of Jayden.

'Lamar and I never really talked about our loss, which I know wasn’t healthy and also meant our relationship would never last. It couldn’t. I found out soon after that he’d had a long-term relationship with another woman — a relationship he said he’d end but he didn’t — and that was that.

'We kept things cordial for the children’s sake after the breakup, but that changed when he married Khloe.'

Lamar Odom and Liza Morales, the mother of Lamar's two children, arrive separately to attend a custody hearing at New York State Supreme Court in 2013. The battle has been ongoing for six years

Lamar married Khloe Kardashian on September 27, 2009, after a whirlwind romance.

Years later, Morales wrote: 'I don't think I'll forget the tight knot I felt in the pit of my stomach the morning I received the text message with three simple words on the screen. It read 'I'm getting married' and it was from the man I'd spent more than 10 years of my life with.'

By that time the two only communicating through lawyers and third parties.

The legal battle has been going on for years with no real resolution taking place with insiders saying it is likely due to Odom's marriage to Kardashian, his NBA career and his personal demons over the years.

Odom filed a suit against Morales in New York in 2010, attempting to get a judge to sign off on an order for child support along with a custody schedule.

Later that year, Odom headed to court again, filing a 'motion to compel' against Morales. It's unclear what he was seeking from Morales as court records are sealed.

She filed court documents the same day: a motion for Pendente Lite Other. She was seeking a temporary order for custody, support or both from the judge pending the outcome of their courtroom trial.

It remains to be seen if Morales will be with her children - Destiny and Lamar Jr, 13, when they see their father, especially since she and Kardashian aren't on the best footing with each other.

And Destiny has her own issues with Kardashian. 'No one thought they were going to last, so honestly, who [cares],' she said at the time the reality star split with her dad, adding, 'I have him all to myself.'

But despite the drama, Morales recently stated: 'Being cordial is always beneficial when children are involved.'
