'He gave me very graphic details': Grieving Houston mother describes the horrific moment her daughter's boyfriend CALLED her to describe how he had stabbed her to death

  • Troy Clay II, from Houston, allegedly called Patricia Morden on Saturday
  • He reportedly told her he had stabbed her paramedic daughter, Melissa
  • He gave her 'graphic details' of alleged killing before hanging up phone
  • Mrs Morden hurtled over to daughter's home - and discovered her dead
  • Clay, who has been charged with murder in incident, is now on the run

A grief-stricken mother has described the horrific moment her daughter's boyfriend called her to tell her he had stabbed his girlfriend to death - before giving her 'very graphic' details of the murder.

Patricia Morden reportedly received the traumatic phone call while she was preparing dinner at her Texas home for her paramedic daughter, Melissa, 36, and her 42-year-old partner, Troy Clay II.

With only hours to go until the meal, she greeted him warmly - but was shocked as he confessed that he had just killed her daughter after finding her with another man in her apartment, she said.

He then apparently graphically described how he had stabbed his girlfriend to death.

'I said, "Do what?" and then he gave me very graphic details of what had transpired,' Mrs Morden told KHOU.com on Wednesday, as police continued to hunt for the fugitive alleged murderer.

Clay, who grew up near Miss Morden but had only recently started dating her after reconnecting with her on Facebook, remains on the run after reportedly knifing his girlfriend on Saturday afternoon.

Investigators have filed a murder charge against him in the case.

After describing the alleged murder to Mrs Morton via phone, Clay apparently abruptly hung up.

'When I went to question him, he hung up the phone,' Mrs Morden said.

As soon as the 'nightmare' call was over, the mother said she and her husband hurtled over to their daughter's apartment at North Sam Houston Parkway, where they discovered her lying dead.

Both her dog, Bandit, and Clay were missing, according to court documents

'All I could do was grab my husband and run over there to keep him at bay while I went in and found her,' Mrs Morden said, adding that it is 'horrifying' to now 'not have any clue' where Clay is.

She and her husband are living in constant fear, she told KHOU.com.

After Mrs Morden alerted police to her daughter's fate, officers arrived at the scene.

They discovered fatal trauma marks were found on Miss Morden's body, according to Sergeant Robert Spurgeon, of the Harris County Constable’s Department Homicide Device.

They immediately launched a hunt for Clay - and charged him with murder over the stabbing.

The suspect has a string of previous arrests and convictions, including some for domestic violence and stalking.

His first conviction was in North Carolina in July 1995 and he appeared repeatedly in court there while living in Cherry Point, official documents show. Three years later, he appeared in court over theft by check of up to $500 in Montgomery County, Texas, where he was living in Willis at the time.

Then, in February 2003, Clay was arrested over assault causing bodily injury.

In April 2007, he was sentenced to up to 30 days in prison for the offense. At the same time, he was sentenced to up to 30 days for harassment for a case first filed on 28 March 2007.

The time delay suggests he had broken bond conditions.

According to the public records, Clay was arrested in Texas over stalking in September 2005, as well as an assault on a family member - and another assault, causing bodily injury in April 2007.

Meanwhile, in May 2009, he was arrested over the assault of a family member, and in September the same year, he was detained for a felony assault on a family member, the records show.

Then in March 2014 he was convicted of the second-degree felony aggravated assault of a family member. And the following month, he was found guilty of the violation of a protective order.

Speaking to ABC 13, Mrs Morden urged other women to check on their new partner's background, saying she had no idea that Clay was 'capable' of killing her daughter.

'Please do not date anybody without doing a criminal background check,' she said.

She also issued a public plea to Clay to 'do the right thing' and turn himself in to police.

Court papers show the alleged killer texted a friend saying he was fleeing to Florida, it is reported.

According to social media, Clay studied computer drafting and design at ITT Technical Institute.

Miss Morden, meanwhile, worked as a paramedic at North Cypress, her mother said.

She had previously worked for 10 years with Cy Fair Volunteer Fire Department.

Clay had been married to a woman named Arlene, now 48, before the pair separated and he began a relationship with Miss Morden, according to public records seen by Daily Mail Online.

St Spurgeon asked anyone with any information about Clay's whereabouts to contact Harris County Sheriff's Office, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
