He's a huge Hollywood star now, but Liam Hemsworth hasn't forgotten his Aussie roots. 

The hunky 25-year-old. who recently spent a week home with family and friends on Phillip Island, near Melbourne, enjoyed a game of golf in the area on Friday.

Between sinking holes, the Hunger Games actor also managed to sink a few frosty cold beers - true blue style.

The ex-fiancé of Miley Cyrus went for a low-key look for the outing, sporting a simple polo shirt and an affordable looking pair of canvas shorts.

He wore a cap over his beachy blonde locks, and covered his handsome face with a scruffy beard and a pair of sunglasses.

The Neighbours alumnus has been reconnecting with his homeland recently after years of working in Tinseltown.

He's set to appear alongside Kate Winslet in the new Aussie film The Dressmaker.

The dramedy is based on the book of the same name from Australian author Rosalie Ham.

In addition to being directed by another Aussie, Jocelyn Moorhouse, the script was written by P. J. Hogan - who directed the Australian classic Muriel's Wedding.

Before his return to Los Angeles, Liam shared an adorable photo of him and his mother Leonie to Instagram, with the setting sun accenting their matching azure eyes.

Towering at 6ft 2ins, Liam dwarfed his petite parent, who has accompanied her son to a number of red carpet events in the past.

The mother-son duo, along with Liam's brothers Chris Hemsworth and Luke Hemsworth, and father Craig moved from Melbourne to Phillip Island when the boys were young.

During his whirlwind trip home, Liam made the trip to mainland Melbourne to watch a game of AFL with his friends.

He shared a snap of the suited group to social media, referencing his favourite team, The Hawthorn Football Club, in the caption: 'At #AFLgrandfinal with the boys! #gothehawks!'.
