Wrecking Balls! Miley Cyrus and Ellen DeGeneres play a saucy game with some 'dangly things' that both fear may never make it to a television screen 

The talk show host wants the world to know she thinks this is 'a stupid dumb game' but she was willing to embarrass herself and her guest as it is for a good cause.

On Thursday as Ellen DeGeneres filmed her following day's show, things got a little crazy on the Los Angeles, California, set.

In honour of her special guest Miley Cyrus, the 57-year-old's writers came out with a game based loosely on the pop star's song Wrecking Ball - hijinks and humiliation quickly followed.

Stepping out on stage a bemused, if not slightly mortified, Ellen told her live audience that as the show had partnered with Ultra Beauty to raise money for breast cancer awareness, she was about to get out of her comfort zone to raise $10,000 cash.

In the video supplied to the Dailymail.com ahead of time, Ellen says: 'It is a very important cause and that is the only reason I have agreed to play this stupid dumb game - it's time to play Wrecking Balls.'

Needing someone to race against, the talk show host brought her Friday's musical talent Miley out - as she needed someone with 'good twerking muscles'.

Miley, who looked lovely in a long off-the-shoulder dress with sheer panels, was also apprehensive about the game.

'I'm scared,' the 22-year-old pop star uttered as soon as she stepped out on stage.

The pair got even more scared when two production staff members proceeded to tie long pink pantyhose around them with balls at the attend to replicate, well, balls.

Never one to miss an opportunity to shock, Miley did her 'thing' and pulled up her skirt.

While she was actually wearing Calvin Klein boxers underneath, she still got the audience screaming.

'Cover your eyes everybody... just kidding.'

Of course, Miley flashing is nothing new but even the controversial star was worried as her stocking contraption was attached.

The star said: 'This isn't going on TV I think, this is just for fun.'

Ellen also did not seem confident the game was making it to air: 'So apparently we are supposed to use the thingy dangling between our legs and were not supposed to use anything else expect that. And the first person to get this ball across the finish line using the only thing between our legs [wins].'

Miley was far more confident the she would be able to get the ball across the line as she has 'got some power with my dangly thing'.

Despite Ellen's reservations, she was rather good at wielding her wrecking ball winning against Miley - even though the pop star cheated.

Celebrating making $10,000 for breast cancer awareness, the ladies slammed there dangling things together, to which Miley remarked, 'This is getting to where it will never be used on television'.

Whether the segment will air or not remains to be seen, but fans who tune Friday will be rewarded as Miley was also on the show to perform her new song Hands of Love with Linda Perry.

The track is from new film Freeheld which stars and was produced by Ellen Page, who was backstage to support the two musicians.

Also appearing on the show was Nick Carter, who thanked the talk show host for her support during his struggles to overcome drug and alcohol addiction.

Nick also asked for Ellen's help in convincing the Spice Girls to join the Backstreet Boys in a reunion tour.

The former boy bander said: 'It was an idea, I am friends with Mel B, and it's an idea that we have been pondering for quite some time and we thought it was a really cool thing to do. 

'And all the boys, every single one of us are on board are on board and we would love to do it. It's really kind of up to the girls, and what they want to do. But funny enough, I thought maybe you could help us out with that.

'You could try to orchestrate this entire thing, and make it happen I mean Ellen is super powerful.'
