Here we go again: Mortified six-year-old boy hangs his head in shame as father launches sexist rant at Post Office staff

  • Father filmed launching angry rant at staff in Post Office in Los Angeles
  • Tells worker: 'I gotta put you in your place because you're a woman'
  • Also threatens to launch a 'crusade' against staff for lacking respect
  • Meanwhile his son, six, hangs his head in shame behind his back
  • From his reaction, the boy has apparently seen the routine before

A father has been filmed launching a sexist rant at Post Office workers in Los Angeles while his embarrassed son hangs his head in shame.

As stunned customers look on, the man abuses a female member of staff for not treating him 'with respect' before telling her: 'I gotta put you in your place because you're a woman and I'm a man.'

Meanwhile, standing just behind him, his mortified six-year-old son tries to hide his face in his hat, apparently having seen the entire act before.

The footage, shot by another customer in the Post Office in Miracle Mile, LA, shows the father shouting at staff behind the counter.

He says: 'I got a six-year-old standing with me and you need to speak to his father with some respect. I don't care who you talked with today, you're going to talk to me with some respect.

'My son is standing right here. You want some respect you're going to get some. I tried to deal with you civilized [sic] but now I'm going to put you in your place because you're a woman and I'm a man and I'm not going to let you talk to me any kind of way.'

While the man, who has not been identified, carries on shouting at the staff, his son walks around the post office, clearly eager to leave.

That lady needs a reality check and some Lipton Ice Tea because that is not acceptable

At one point he sees the person filming and begins to make faces at the camera, upstaging his dad, before leaning his head into the small of the man's back.

Unaware of his son's utter mortification, or perhaps simply uninterested in it, the man continues his speech.

He says: 'You do your Post Office job to the best of your abilities and learn how to talk to people or go get another career.'

As a male worker tries to interrupt him, he adds: 'No you wait! I'm a taxpayer in this community and I don't come here to get this kind of service.

'No "sir" nothing, you can't serve me because she should've done it right the first time. Call the police, I didn't do nothing, I didn't make any threats.

Pointing at the female staff member, who has walked away from the counter, he says: 'That lady needs a reality check and some Lipton Ice Tea because that is not acceptable.'

He then goes on to insult the woman's intelligence, saying she likely only has a high school diploma, while claiming to be a university graduate himself.

Meanwhile the boy has lost interest in trying to move his dad away from the counter, and instead starts moving towards the exit himself, apparently trying to bring the awkward encounter to an end.

The father finishes by telling staff: 'You just keep talking to people, I will make a crusade to come up here and make this my business.

'See what you're doing is messing with the wrong people in this community. I'm a taxpayer here, trust me, don't make a crusade you don't want to start.'

The footage was uploaded to YouTube by a user called Gordon Cooper on Monday, who said that staff did call police, but the man was gone by the time they arrived.

The man seems completely oblivious to his son's mortification, and only decides to leave the Post Office after staff threatened to call the police
