The new Beckingham Palace? David and Victoria Beckham 'preparing to splash £5.4million on a six bedroom family home in the Gloucestershire countryside'

They already call a £31.5 million mansion in central London home, while their summers are spent in Los Angeles.

But new rumours suggest David and Victoria Beckham, said to be worth a combined £210million, are eyeing up a £5.4million countryside pile to add to their property portfolio.

The couple have reportedly been viewing a 1640 manor house in Gloucestershire as a possible new family home. A rep for the couple has told MailOnline: 'There has been no viewing or interest shown in this property by my clients, whatsoever.'

According to South West News Service, the Beckhams have been spotted in Gloucestershire a number of times recently, sparking rumours that they are eyeing up a new 'Beckingham Palace'.

Amberley House, a six bedroom home set in 22 acres of Cotswold countryside, has now emerged as the front runner in the search for a new home for the couple and their children Brooklyn, 16; Romeo, 13; Cruz, ten; and daughter Harper, four.

The Beckhams have been photographed in nearby Nailsworth, and have also been spotted in Stroud on two occasions, according to local reports.

Jane Bandy, landlady of the nearby Amberley Inn, said: 'There have been a couple of people in who have said about it. The fact that they were seen in Nailsworth adds fuel to the fire. They haven't popped in for a pint just yet though.'

Another villager added: 'Everyone's talking about it - it's quite a place and they have been seen around this area.'

Amberley House boasts an infinity swimming pool and tennis court, perfect for the sporty family, as well as a two-bedroom lodge and pool house to provide accommodation for their family and celeb pals.

There's also a stables and manège on the estate, alongside the six sumptuous reception rooms in the main house, which is situated on the edge of Amberley village with stunning views over the Woodchester valley.

Anthony Coaker, from Savills, which is marketing the property, could not comment on who might buy the property but admitted there has been plenty of interest from potential buyers across the country.

According to the estate agent details, over the last three years, the current owners have undertaken extensive refurbishments to the property, with the house 'sympathetically brought into the 21st century,' with a designer kitchen from Clive Christian, underfloor heating and all the mod cons a family could need.

The picturesque grounds and house are even said to have literary connections, with the ‘Beechwood' estate in the Dinah Craik novel John Halifax, Gentleman thought to be based on Amberley House.

The Beckhams are currently renting in London while their £31.5 million West London home, which they purchased in 2014 after their move back to the UK from Los Angeles, is renovated.

The couple pooled the cash from the sale of their 12-acre Hertfordshire estate in 2014, as well as from the sale of a number of their luxury cars, to buy their London mansion.

David and Victoria bought their Hertfordshire home in 1999, the original Beckingham Palace, just three months after their wedding.

Being in the capital means the couple are close to their various business ventures, with Victoria opening her Dover Street store a year ago.

Earlier this year it was reported that the pair's plans to refurbish their London home hit trouble after a rich neighbour complained they are damaging the historic character of their leafy London boulevard with their plans to install air conditioning in five rooms, including a new gym and wine cellar.

A new family home comes as the couple defend their 16 year marriage against split speculation, due to their hectic schedules and rarely-crossed paths.

Victoria has insisted that all things are going swimmingly between her and David, claiming that they have 'nothing to prove' in their relationship.

Speaking to Grazia magazine last week, the 41-year-old fashion designer defended herself against those persistent rumours:

'I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and beautiful, healthy, happy children,' the Spice Girl turned fashion designer said.

'Yes, we travel a lot with our respective businesses and charitable commitments, but we always make time for each other as a couple and as a family.

She continued: 'David and I have nothing to prove. We love each other, look out for each other and are strong as both partners and parents.'
