Fitness model, 20, with huge shoulders and a tiny waist trains FOUR hours a day and barely eats for 'beauty and fitness competition' - but have bodybuilding contests gone too far?

  • Maggie Russell has stopped eating carbs and exercises every day
  • She will compete at World Beauty, Fitness and Fashion on the Gold Coast
  • The 20-year-old trains every day for four hours and only eat 1,100 calories

A fitness model has revealed how she works out for four hours a day and has halved her calorie intake as part of an extreme schedule in the lead up to a crucial competition.

Maggie Russell is set to compete at the World Beauty, Fitness and Fashion competition on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The 20-year-old is now at the end of her 'depletion week', which means she hasn't eaten any carbohydrates and exercised twice a day, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

'I train six days a week with weights and seven days a week cardio, twice a day,' Ms Russell said.

'It's very intense. I spend four hours a day in the gym. It's all strict dieting.'

On the day of a competition, which will require at least two spray tans, Ms Russell says she will eat rices cakes and a few lollies.

Ms Russell, who regularly documents her training progress to her 14,000 Instagram followers, also tries to get at least eight hours of sleep each night.

The World Beauty, Fitness and Fashion competition this weekend has been likened to a Victoria's Secret runway show but for body-builders.
