There's three ways to handle a break-up, and that's to make-up, cake-up or shape up.

Jennifer Garner has been doing the latter and it's certainly putting a smile on her face - as she beamed after her morning work-out session in Brentwood, California on Thursday.

The 43-year-old actress, who split with husband Ben Affleck - also 43 - in June, had a spring in her step as she glowed make-up free as she left her gym.

Despite the inevitable heartbreak of recent months, the star is looking more relaxed and happier than ever.

The Alias star even made reference to her Laugh Out Loud status with a sweatshirt that read LOL Angeles, as a play on the name of her home city.

She showed off her slim legs in skintight black leggings and brightly coloured trainers as she braved the rare Los Angeles rain storm.

Carrying a towel and water-bottle, the beauty was clearly well-prepared for breaking a sweat.

She pulled her brunette tresses back from her flawless face, and looked to be full of energy.

Ben and Jen - who were married for a decade - are parents to daughters Violet, nine and Seraphina, six, as well as three-year-old son Samuel.

They announced their intention to divorce one day before their tenth anniversary.

Reports suggested the reason behind the break-up was that Ben had been allegedly unfaithful with the family nanny, 28-year-old Christine Ouzounian.

Ben has denied this and while they are now estranged, the actor has been living on the family's property - albeit in a guest house - to be closer to the children and they have been seen on outings together.

The Juno star and her estranged husband have now listed their palatial Pacific Palisades three acre estate for sale, at an asking price of $45 million.

In early September, the two were pictured arriving and leaving separately at a marriage counselling center in Los Angeles, as revealed by DailyMail.com.

Ben, meanwhile, shaved off his beard to reveal a new baby-faced look on Tuesday evening - although the star looked like the past few turbulent months have been taking their toll.
