The modified i8 coupe was developed with Toyota. It can travel 300 miles on one tank of hydrogen, with refueling taking about five minutes. The  two-door coupé relies on carbon fibre construction to keep its weight down and aerodynamics developed at BMW's wind tunnel in Munich.

German car manufacturer BMW was today forced to deny claims it has cheated on emission tests similar to what competitor Volkswagen has admitted to doing.

The new model is predicted to sell for a quarter of a million pounds. The two-seater was designed by Scot Moray Callum and unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show ahead of going into production.
