They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.

And Dave Gardner certainly seemed to be think so as he tweeted a heart-warming snap of fiancée Liv Tyler posing with their son Sailor.

The actress sat with the eight-month-old on the stoop of their New York walk-up, surrounded by pumpkins, both light up and real.

Liv certainly looked to be counting her blessings as she gave her son a peck on the cheek.

Liv and Sailor Gene also appear together in November's British Vogue.

Proud David, couldn't resist sharing an adorable baby snap from the shoot via social networking.

He wrote: 'Mummy and Sailor Gene in this months British Vogue.... So beautiful and so cute x @misslivalittle,' he wrote alongside the image.'

According to Us Weekly, Liv and Dave have been secretly engaged since Christmas.

They went public with their romance in August of last year, and Liv confirmed her pregnancy the following month.

The Lord Of The Rings actress was previously married to Royston Langdon for five years before they separated in 2008.

The two share a son Milo, who had spent the day with 38-year-old Liv.
