Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez is on a hot run of form... maybe his mum is the secret behind his success?

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed that his mother still plays an active role in his career and even offers him handy tips.

The 26-year-old Chile international, who has established himself as one of the Gunners' key players since joining the club last season, said at a press conference: 'My mum is always my coach. She phones me and tells me to shoot at goal more often.'

If his recent form is anything to go by, Sanchez appears to have taken that advice to heart. He has scored nine goals in his last five games for club and country.

Meanwhile, the former Barcelona star moved to pour cold water on reports linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid.

Sanchez told journalists emphatically: 'I have no idea what the media are saying, but I feel comfortable at Arsenal.'

He added: 'I'm happy with my team-mates and the city of London is beautiful. I'm not going to change. I'm very happy.'

Arsenal are currently second in the Premier League table with 16 points from their opening eight fixtures, just two points behind the pace set by leaders Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger's men are back in action Saturday and travel away to newly promoted Watford at Vicarage Road.

Sanchez scored a brace in Arsenal's last game, a 3-0 win over Manchester United, and will be hopeful of continuing his fine run at the weekend.
