Lamar Odom's life had become a sordid spiral of lonely visits to strip clubs, internet chats with escorts and wild partying, Daily Mail Online can reveal.

The tragic star, was described as looking 'morose' during a recent evening out, had become increasingly distressed about his impending divorce from Khloe Kardashian and was desperate to return to professional basketball.

But while Odom was putting in twice-daily workouts with his friend and trainer Fareed Samad, he was also spending increasing amounts of time in Las Vegas' many nightclubs.

Sources at the Crazy Horse III, which bills itself as the 'best gentleman's club and bachelor party in Las Vegas', say the 35-year-old would sit and drink Perrier sparkling water while watching the girls.

Madison Montag, formerly called Matthew Maguire, is one of the girls available for punters at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch, where Odom was found unconscious after a four day bender on Tuesday.

'He was last here about three weeks ago and he seemed kind of sad,' said the source. 'He just sat there and drank water and didn't have a private dance.'

The club, which is spread across three rooms and has four stages, regularly hosts famous faces according to the source, among them Charlie Sheen.

However, Odom was an especially frequent visitor and, although he rarely had private dances – which are charged at $300 for 30 minutes – he liked to spend time with the girls working there.

'The girl he was with last time was kind of crazy,' added the source. 'I was right next to them and she was doing drugs the whole time but he was just chilled and wasn't doing anything [drugs].

'He was sitting up at the top where he wouldn't get bothered. He had girls with him but he was just sitting and watching and didn't go for a dance.

'He comes in here a lot and usually comes with three friends. He seemed morose the last time he came in but he seemed OK and wasn't into any drugs.'

In another sign of his increasingly erratic behavior, Odom also spent time chatting to escorts over the internet, among them transsexual porn star turned prostitute Madison Montag, 23.

Montag, formerly called Matthew Maguire, is one of the girls available for clients at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch, where Odom was found unconscious after a four day bender on Tuesday.

The fallen sports star messaged Montag via her Instagram page although it's not clear if he knew she was previously a man.

Her page features raunchy modeling shots in lingerie and smoldering portraits in which the Texas-born adult performer looks strikingly similar to Kim Kardashian.

However it does not refer to the fact that she still has male genitalia and has starred in a string of porn films including America's Next Top Tranny and Transsexual Babysitters 14.

Daily Mail Online revealed previously that Montag was one of eight hookers paraded in front of Lamar when he arrived at the Love Ranch.

But the NBA champ picked petite blondes Ryder Cherry and Monica Monroe instead before summoning them to his private pleasure suite.

Montag, meanwhile, is thought to have stormed out in protest because she wasn't getting a share of Odom's cash.

A source at the brothel said: 'Lamar likes blondes. He didn't hesitate in picking Ryder and Monica.

'Madison was not happy at all. She felt as though she had brought in a high-rolling client but was being left out in the cold while they raked in the big bucks.

'The management and the girls split everything 50-50 but she was still going to be missing out on a lot of money.'

Montag was trumpeted as Nevada's only licensed transsexual escort when she joined Dennis Hof's menagerie of hookers earlier this year.

The August 20 news release announcing her arrival at the Love Ranch claimed Dennis had been 'inspired' to hire her by the brave journey of Bruce Jenner's transition to become Caitlyn.

'22-year-old Montag stands just 5' 1' and weighs only 100 pounds, yet displays 32DD breasts and boasts a set of pouty lips that puts Angelina Jolie to shame,' it read.

'Her brunette hair and big brown eyes also bear a more than casual resemblance to Kim Kardashian.'

Madison's Twitter and Facebook pages have been deleted, while her Instagram has been set to private.

The Love Ranch is located about 80 miles north of Las Vegas. Mr Hof bought it in 2010 and he owns nine brothels and a strip club in Nevada

KHLOE HITS BACK AT 'PUBLICITY-SEEKING' BROTHEL OWNER

Khloe Kardashian hit back at the owner of the Love Ranch Vegas, saying he is using the 'painful situation' to ramp up publicity for his business.

Dennis Hof said on Wednesday he had told a publicist for the TV family to 'go to hell' after they asked him to not speak to the media.

Hof said the handler told him: 'We'd rather have Khloe say what needs to be said.'

Again through her publicist, Khloe accused Hof of seeking the spotlight.

'We reached out to Dennis, politely asking him to respect Lamar's (and Khloe's) privacy during this difficult time and refrain from talking to the press,' Kardashian's publicist told The New York Daily News.

'This is a very painful situation, as I know you are aware, and the idea that anyone would use it to seek publicity is really sad.'

A 2013 profile on an escort guide website say she grew up in Austin and came out as a transsexual 'at a really young age but had supportive parents'.

It goes on to say: 'Although she's had surgery for her breasts, she is still not sure about getting a complete gender reassignment.

'She believes she's still young enough to not rush into it, but adds it's an "end goal" for most, including her.'

When asked about Madison's dealing with Lamar, Dennis Hof confirmed the pair had been in contact prior to his arrival at the Love Ranch.

He told Daily Mail Online: 'I know he had an interest in Madison Montag, because Madison told me that they had been talking on social media before he came in.

'She felt that was the reason that he was coming to the ranch, to see her, although he ended up with two other girls

'What I know for sure, because I got it from Madison is that they were talking over social media and she expected him to pick her, but it didn't work out that way.

'Madison was upset, thinking that my staff had guided him to the two girls instead of her.'

Another party who claims to have insider knowledge from the brothel is celebrity sex tape broker Kevin Blatt – the man responsible for bringing Paris Hilton's X-rated antics to the masses.

He wrote on Facebook: 'Lamar chickened out after the girls had their line up - he never had SEX with any of the girls.

'He was too busy smoking crack and drinking to have any kind of sexual encounter according to my sources.'

Montag has since 'fled' Nevada according to brothel sources and could not be contacted for comment by Daily Mail Online.

Odom's dramatic fall from grace is in stark contrast to the high hopes he had for a fresh start after moving to Las Vegas at the beginning of June.

Living in a leafy private community in the city's upmarket Henderson suburb, Odom, who was pictured looking noticeably overweight at the start of the summer, has lost 35lb after starting an intensive new training regime on arrival.

But the star was left reeling following the drug deaths in quick succession of his two best friends, Jamie Sangouthai and Bobby Heyward, shortly after his move.

The ongoing saga of his divorce from Khloe Kardashian is also thought to have hit him hard, with the couple's woes spilling out into the open in August when he was seen angrily confronting her outside a Los Angeles gym.

Further troubles have come in the shape of an acrimonious custody battle with Liza Morales, Odom's ex-girlfriend of 12 years and the mother of his two children, Destiny, 17, and Lamar Jr, 14.

Indeed, as Daily Mail Online exclusively revealed, the two were due in court in New York later this month in a bid to thrash out a new arrangement.

But despite his many troubles, close friend and trainer Samad says he thought things were finally beginning to look up for Odom who seemed in good spirits during their training sessions.

'He was laughing and smiling and cracking jokes just like always,' said Samad, whose last meeting with the former NBA star came the day before his fateful arrival at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch.

'I love his company and I wish there were more like him. If I could have 10 more friends like him then I would.'

Speaking about his progress, he added: 'He started off average and has been getting better and better. We would work out twice a week for 90 minutes at a time.

'We have been doing boxing style work outs and it certainly isn't easy. It's a lot of push ups, sit ups and that kind of thing but he's been doing well.

'He started off being able to lift 100lb in June and now he's doing 200lb and has lost 35lb on top of that.'

As a result, Samad, who offers a mobile service to clients and is based out of Las Vegas and Denver, says he was left gobsmacked when he heard of Odom's condition.

'I was shocked,' he says. 'There was no sign that anything was wrong. Now I'm just hoping he comes through it and keeps fighting.

'Once he gets out of hospital, I'd love to start working out with him again and help him get back to where he wants to be.'

Odom has been in a medically-induced coma since Tuesday after he was discovered unconscious and foaming at the mouth by two brothel workers.

He had been staying at the establishment since Saturday and had indulged in a $75,000 bender with prostitutes that included Cognac, cocaine, 10 herbal Viagra pills and copious amounts of food.

Love Ranch general manager TJ Moore later told Daily Mail Online that he stunned staff with his gargantuan appetite and would devour three T-bone steaks and a bucket of KFC in a single sitting.

But she spoke of how he appeared 'mellow, melancholy even' in the run-up to his collapse on Tuesday afternoon.

More worrying was his use of drugs, among them speedballs – a highly dangerous cocktail of heroin and cocaine taken intravenously.

The combination has already claimed the lives of several celebrities, among them actors River Phoenix, John Belushi, Chris Farley and most recently Philip Seymour Hoffman

Harrowing 911 calls made by staff who discovered him later revealed that the basketball star was found with 'white stuff coming out of his mouth and blood out of his nose.'

A further call, made by the brothel's media director Richard Hunter, included a claim that the star had been using cocaine during his stay.

Speaking to medics, Hunter added: 'He [Odom] took Reload, a 72-hour strong sexual enhancer performer for men.

'He has taken a bunch of these. It was over a three-day period. You can add this to it. Someone just told me that he had some cocaine on him that he finished on Saturday.

'Since then he's been alert, conscious and all that.'

Odom is thought to have suffered a series of strokes and has multiple organ failure, with a source inside the hospital telling gossip website TMZ that he only has a 50 per cent chance of surviving.
