Kobe Bryant is taking the high road, after rapper Master P accused him being a 'phony friend' to comatose Lamar Odom.

On Thursday, the LA Laker posted a cryptic tweet, reading: 'When WE feel the need to question the support of others in moments as critical as a life hanging in the balance, then we must question the kind of culture we have created that has led US to such insensitive suspicion.'

It appears the tweet was in reference to comments Master P made earlier this weekend, when Bryant was pictured leaving a basketball game early to be by the bedside of his ailing former teammate.

The rapper told TMZ that Bryant didn't do enough for Odom before his suspected overdose, and claims he could have used his clout in the NBA to get Odom back on the court.

'If Kobe was his friend ... Kobe, like, owns the team. He could've got the man back on the team ... that's all he wanted,' Master P said.

After Kobe's tweet was posted on Friday, Master P shot back at the Lakers star again saying that before his tragic overdose, Odom used to complain about 'how everybody turned their backs on him.'

'I am not trying to question the support of others that are truly grieving, this is a critical, life and death situation. This is only my opinion, it's just sad that last month no one had anything positive to say about Lamar.

However, Master P went on to say that it was Odom's decisions that led him to where he is today, and that even he had to distance himself from Odom, who he described as a mentee.

Bryant was one of the first of Odom's friends to arrive at the hospital after hearing news of the former Laker's collapse at a Nevada brothel.

In Las Vegas for a game against the Sacramento Kings, Bryant left the MGM arena early to visit Odom and was pictured outside the hospital looking worried.

Odom's former Lakers teammate Trevor Ariza, now with the Houston Rockets, was also pictured visiting Odom on Wednesday, after playing a game in Arizona on Tuesday.

Odom has received an outpouring of support from NBA stars across the nation, who are sending their prayers.
