She was on the show to promote her upcoming thriller with castmates Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston along with director Guillermo Del Toro.

On the chat programme, Jessica discussed her villainous role of Lucille Sharpe as she explained: 'You can say I'm really creepy, super creepy.

'Didn't someone say that playing the creepy parts are usually a lot of fun? It's actually a lot of fun to watch it, shooting it was a bit tough. It was really dark. The last 20 minutes of the film are so intense and it takes a lot of energy.'

Though the two are competing against each other for viewership, their actual relationship seems to be much more cordial as they even share the same agent.

Colbert and 47-year-old Kimmel shared hilarious stories about agent James 'Babydoll' Dixon and later competed in a pasta cooking contest where he was actually the 'surprise' judge. Ultimately, it was Colbert who won the competition with his pappardelle.

The episode concluded with musical guest Beach House who performed single One Thing from their newly released album Thank Your Lucky Stars.
