They officially announced the end of their 18 year relationship in early September.

Now over a month later Jennifer Westfedlt has been pictured for the first time since her split from Jon Hamm.

The 45-year-old was seen walking their dog Cora through Central Park in New York City on Wednesday.

The actress and screenwriter wore her blonde locks straight over her shoulders as she walked leisurely with her pup.

Sporting a smart cap, she took cover under dark sunglasses while keeping warm in a blue coat.

Jennifer and her dog, which she co-owns with Hamm, was thanked by the actor in his Emmy acceptance speech last month.

The 44-year-old got a standing ovation as he was given his very first Emmy, and then crawled onto the stage where he appeared to thank his ex-girlfriend of 18 years Jennifer in a humble acceptance speech.

Before giving his gratitude to a woman named 'Jen', Jon said: 'There has been a mistake, clearly. Thank you for that. This is impossible - to be named with all of those extraordinary gentleman, it's impossible to be standing here, up here.'

'And it's incredible and impossible for me personally to be standing here,' he said humbly, 'so I want to thank the people to whom I owe an incredible debt, people who in my life have gotten me here, families who have chosen for some reason to take me in and be nice to me along this strange, strange road.'

Long history: Hamm and Westfeldt began dating in 1997; they never married and have no children

Former team: They worked together on the indie comedy Friends with Kids in 2011. Westfeldt wrote, starred and directed the movie while Hamm co-produced and also had a small role.

'Cora and Jen, thank you all very much, I would not be standing here without you,' he said, referring sweetly to his adorable dog.

In early September Jon and Jennifer released a joint statement announcing the break-up, but did not specify exactly when they had split.

'With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history,' the couple said in the statement.

'We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward.'

The two were last pictured together on July 22 at a party in New York.

The pair were hit by rumours of trouble back in April, with InTouch magazine reporting that Westfeldt had ended the relationship before Hamm entered a 30-day rehab stay for alcoholism.

A spokesperson for Hamm told DailyMail.com at the time that the story was 'not true.'

Hamm and Westfeldt began dating in 1997; they never married and have no children.
