The comeback king! Tracy Morgan is back to his best in a bold regal cape as he continues to move on from traumatic brain injury

It's not in Tracy Morgan's nature to make a quiet entrance.

And the larger-than-life comedian was doing his best to prove that he was back at his best, following his traumatic brain injury.

Tracy rolled up to a New York event on Thursday in a white stretched limousine with a regal cape and cane helping him to make a characteristically bold arrival.

The 30 Rock actor, who returned to Saturday Night Live last week, said he 'felt good' when he headed back to familiar territory to present the show.

And the comic certainly looked it when he stepped out, beaming brightly, on a red carpet just this week.

He tipped red aviator shades on his nose and set off a shirt and trousers ensemble with a glittering fur-lined cape that dragged behind him as he walked.

It was a limousine that Tracy had been travelling in when a truck collided with the vehicle in New Jersey in June 2014, killing his friend and comedian, James 'Jimmy Mack' McNair.

Sixteen months after the crash the actor is still using a cane to help him walk, but he has made a triumphant recovery from the traumatic brain injury it left him with, despite the long-standing physical and verbal impact it's left on the star.

The actor has gone and jumped full throttle back into his work, appearing on stage for the first time since his accident in two stand up comedy shows last Monday night.

The surprise live stand up performances occurred in New York City at The Comedy Cellar and The Stand Up.

The New York-born actor tweeted his return to the stage, writing on October 12: 'My first time on stage in 16 months at the #ComedyCellar! Picking up the pieces!'

Comedy star Tracy, who was an SNL regular between 1996 and 2003, made his biggest step to recovery when he decided to get back in the saddle for the comedy TV show.

He used his injuries to get laughs during his SNL appearance promo video, saying, 'Did I used to work here? I can't remember anymore,' before later finally using his catchphrase, 'I'm going to get everyone in this building pregnant.'

The actor was also only too happy to share the love of his fans as wellwishers as he arrived for rehearsals in New York last Thursday.
