It's super effective! Ronda Rousey dresses up in giant Pokemon Pikachu costume as she prepares for UFC bout in spoof video

Turns out Ronda Rousey is an Electric rather than a Fighting type.

SportsCenter spilled the UFC star's training secret on Thursday when it revealed she dresses as a giant Pokemon when she hits the gym.

The 28-year-old Bantamweight champion appeared in the spoof video wearing an enormous Pikachu costume while she worked out.

It opens with Rousey, towel slung over her shoulder, staring the camera down with one of her trademark grimaces.

But it takes an immediate unexpected turn when she lifts the giant yellow thunder mouse's head onto her shoulders.

What follows in a montage of rather gentle routines, as she delivers some light taps to a punching bag, does a coupe of pull ups and practically caresses the face of a training dummy.

But she saves her best move for last, charging up a brutal Thunderbolt attack before booting the dummy clear off the screen.

Delighted with her performance, she pulls off the head and lets her hair loosen out - only then appearing to realise there are other people in the gym with her.

After some confused stares from the other patrons, she quickly bolts from the gym - without so much as a Boulder Badge to show for it.

Despite being one of the toughest ladies on the planet, Ronda is also famously a self-confessed nerd, videogamer and lifelong Pokemon fan.

She claims to have owned every version of the Pokemon Gameboy game; she was an avid collector of Pokemon cards (her first card was a Dragonair);  she was even once a moderator on an online forum for the videogame Pokemon Stadium - under the name Mew182, Mew being her favourite Pokemon.

Besides that, still plays World of Warcraft, and has admitted to still having a crush on Vegeta from Dragonball Z.

Rousey remains the first and only UFC women's champion, and will defend her title once again on November 15 when she faces Holly Holm.

Her six victories in the UFC have taken just 477 seconds in total - her last three fights taking 16, 14, and 34 seconds respectively.

With career earnings of over $1m so far, this equates to around $2,200 per second spent in the octagon.

Gotta catch em all: She claims to have owned every version of the Pokemon Gameboy game, and was an avid collector of Pokemon cards (her first card was a Dragonair)
