Superstar Jonas Brothers musician Joe Jonas, 26, and his new band DNCE just released a new music video for their debut single Cake by the Ocean.

Entertainment Weekly posted the video on their site, and revealed that it was directed by none other than Joe's supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid, 20.

According to the article, Joe said coming up with the idea for the video was quite straightforward.

'We were thinking of ideas and turned around and said, ‘Why not put a massive cake on the beach?’'

The band's decision to go with Gigi to direct may have been influenced by the fact that she had some prior experience, having appeared in Taylor Swift's Bad Blood video.

Gigi also seemingly had an immediate connection with the song; when the single first came out, Joe posted an Instagram video of her and friend Ciara having fun rocking out to the tune.

Joe was very complimentary when talking about is beau boss, claiming that 'she’s always had a high creative eye so she came up with concept and we rolled with it, she was a good boss.”

Despite being a fairly new group, DNCE, composed of Joe Jonas, JinJoo Lee, Cole Whittle and Jack Lawless, has already established itself as a high profile musical act.

While the whole video is somewhat absurd, EW did point out it does raise questions as to what happened to all the cake at the end of the shoot.

The bands bassist Cole Whittle summed up the cleanup effort: 'We all just ate the cake off the sand. Everyone had cake and had fun.”

Joe also revealed the band will start touring in November, and they will also be releasing their new EP SWAAY in the coming months.
