The Caulfield Cup is one of the biggest events on the Australian horse racing calendar, attracting an A-list crowd and models and entertainers to the marquees. But in the outer, bizarre outfits (top left) and drunken behaviour were a feature among the 30,000 people who are estimated to have attended on Saturday. By the end of the day, some couples had no qualms about some very open displays of affection (main), while others were clearly showing signs of wear and tear. One woman had lost a show as she spoke to security (right), while another was comforted by a male friend (bottom left), No arrests were reported, but at least one man was involved in a confrontation that left him with torn trousers and his shirt spattered with blood.
