Forget a detox, now there's a cake cleanse: The new diet that lets you eat dessert for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and STILL lose weight

  • Deborah Schipper, 40, struggled with giving up treats when dieting
  • She created the Cake Cleanse - a program that includes healthy sweets
  • Ms Schipper says participants can eat cake for breakfast and be healthy
  • The program has helped her with insomnia and debilitating skin issues
  • Recipes include mug cakes, chocolate gateaus, cupcakes and pancakes

A cleanse is the perfect way to re-charge and re-boot after a long winter - but for some, the idea of fasting or doing a juice program simply isn't sustainable.

Deborah Schipper, a self-confessed Sydney foodie and lover of sweets, has answered the prayers of every struggling dieter with her new 'cake cleanse' program.

'I had a number of really serious health issues including extreme eczema, dermatitis and debilitating insomnia, and it just spiralled from there,' the 40-year-old told Daily Mail Australia.

'I wasn't getting answers and I knew I would have to put in a lot of effort with it so I started really looking into my diet.'

After trying multiple cleanses and struggling with hunger and energy levels, Ms Schipper decided to try something new.

'I've always been reasonably healthy but the sweet treats and processed foods snuck in as I got busy with work and needed an energy boost,' Ms Schipper said.

'I love sweets and I knew I could never give them up - life is there to enjoy food and I wanted to enjoy food but didn't want to give up the foods that I loved.'

So with a goal in mind, Ms Schipper created the Cake Cleanse - a four week program and recipe book that allows participants to eat healthy and nutritious mud cakes, cupcakes, brownies and other sweet treats as part of their daily meal plan.

'It's all about a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner but it's also about bad foods turned good - so it has things like pancakes as well that are actually really good for you,' Ms Schipper said, who has a background in health and beauty.

'I'm happier and have more energy': Ms Schipper eats healthy and nutritious cakes as part of her daily meal plan - each of them made up of hidden vegetables and beneficial ingredients

'I would say that since eating this way my skin issues and my insomnia are 90 per cent better, I'm happier, have more energy and look forward to every single day - and I never have to worry about my weight again!'

For Ms Schipper, the mug cakes, made with almond and coconut flour, are her favourite recipes.

'You can have cake for breakfast and be healthy. With the mug cakes you can have them in the morning for breakfast and you are full until lunch time,' Ms Schipper said.

'Kids love them as well': Ms Schipper says the recipes are a great alternative for kids who love sweet snacks

'You can make them in a minute and take the ingredients to work with you...the blueberry one tastes like a delicious warm blueberry pudding.'

All recipes making up the Cake Cleanse program are backed by Sydney nutritionist Jennifer May.

'Even my nutritionist said the mug cake kept her full until lunch,' Ms Schipper said, 'and her lunch time isn't until two.'

'With these cakes you have them and you have set up a good day of healthy eating and kids love them as well...they are full of hidden vegetables and they have no idea.'
