Heidi Klum approves of Seal's new girlfriend.

The 42-year-old praised 'lovely' Erica Packer in an interview with People magazine, as she defended her recent comment that she plays both 'mom and dad' to their four children.

'I am very happy for Seal,' she said. 'I have met Erica a bunch of times at my children's birthday parties and she is lovely.'

The two stars share daughters Leni, 11, and Lou, six, and sons Henry, 10, and Johan, eight together. And they have both moved on - Heidi has been Vito Schnabel since last year.

Meanwhile, Seal started dating Erica earlier this year and she is rumoured to be expecting their first child together.

Heidi was criticised after saying she took on the roles of both parents during an interview with Redbook.

Explaining that some people misunderstood what she was getting at, the supermodel said: 'It is frustrating to me that some other media outlets are taking what was said in the article to suggest that I was aiming to malign my children's father. Because I was not!

'In the article, I say that, as a single parent, 'I'm a mom and a dad at the same time.' And that is the case when I'm alone with our kids ... and I assume the same rings true when they are with their dad.'

Heidi added: 'As a single parent, you have so many roles – you are wearing all the hats. The mom hat, the dad hat, the chef hat, the teacher hat, the disciplinarian hat, the clown hat and the work hat.

'You have your hands full, but you just try your best because it's all about raising happy and healthy kids. That's all we both want.'

Heidi had told Redbook: 'Obviously things have changed, but they haven't changed drastically,' she said of the split.

'[Seal] was never your typical dad who left for work in the morning with his briefcase and would be home by dinnertime every night. He traveled a lot.

'Women are capable of juggling a lot of balls - we do things that guys just cannot do,' she said.

'Men typically can juggle only one ball, and even then they're like, "I'm confused. Should I put it in my right or left hand?"' A lot of them have a very hard time just trying to figure out what to do with that one ball. And often they want us to hold that one too!'

The German stunner recently laughed off a suggestion from presidential candidate Donald Trump that she's no longer 'a 10' - although she does admit her body has changed from having four children.
