American Horror Story branded 'vile' by parent watchdog over 'unbelievable explicit combination of sex and violence'

American Horror Story has been blasted by a conservative watchdog over its 'unbelievable explicit combination of sex and violence'.

The President of the Parents Television Council Tim Winter wrote a scathing email to its subscribers on Friday about the FX TV show, which is produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, focusing his disgust on the season premiere of the show.

In the season five opener, the show featured a group sex scene with Matt Bomer and Lady Gaga and two others, as well as Max Greenfield's character getting raped.

In the episode, directed by Ryan, the bloody foursome starts with Matt's character, Donovan and The Countess (played by Lady Gaga) meeting a couple at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and deciding to have a foursome with them.

The couple are then killed by The Countess and Donovan during their rendezvous.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, in the subscriber email, Tim described the horror show as: 'the most vile and shocking content I've ever seen on TV. Ever.'

Their strong words didn't stop there, adding: 'Most Americans have no idea this is primetime fare on advertiser-supported basic cable. And everyone is paying for it as part of their program bundle.'

The PTC hopes to convince advertisers, especially Subway, to pull their ads from the show.

The Poker Face singer recently told The Hollywood Reporter that she doesn't always purposely go for shock value, saying: 'I don't just simply do things because they are provocative or because they are shocking.

'I'm doing it because the story that [Ryan] is telling about addiction, the story that's he's telling about our own narcissism, the story that he's telling about how the human being strives to survive within the challenges of the universe--that to me is what makes the sex so good.'

The show, which airs on Wednesdays, focuses on a different characters and locations for each season, with the current season called American Horror Story: Hotel.

The group also pointed their fingers at Ryan and Brad's other show, Scream Queens, writing that the show is sponsored by McDonald's even though'the program features graphic decapitations and discussions of necrophilia in the family hour.'
