Not just a funnyman! Jimmy Kimmel throws perfect first pitch at Major League Baseball game in New York

He's one of the few celebrities not to embarrass themselves when throwing the first pitch at a baseball game.

Jimmy Kimmel proved he's more than just a funnyman on Sunday as he threw the ceremonial first pitch at the New York Mets versus Chicago Cubs playoff game in Queens, New York.

The 47-year-old New York native blasted the ball from the mound, dressed in a Mets jersey, with fairly decent accuracy making a nice showing for himself.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live host, who sported a beard, stood on the Citi Field mound prior to the start of game two in the series.

The nighttime talk show host was good luck, because the Mets won the game 4-1, leading the National League Championship series 2-0.

The comedian dressed warmly for the chilly night, wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath his jersey with black trousers and dress shoes, finishing it off with a baseball cap atop his head.

The host is gearing up for the first night of his week-long special, Jimmy Kimmel Live in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn-born funny man is bringing the show, which is normally filmed in Hollywood, back to his hometown.

This is the second time the show is filming in the New York borough, which is where he lived until he was nine years old.

The East Coast week-long special kicks off on Monday night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House.

The father of three spent the start of his Monday at Good Morning America in New York City to promote the special.

On Friday, the television host joined Facebook, posting a photo of his daughter, Jane Kimmel, perched on his shoulders.

Jimmy captioned the photo he posted: 'is this where you post photos of babies at the pumpkin patch?'

Jimmy married Molly McNearney in July 2013 after they dated for almost four years. The two met on Jimmy Kimmel Live; Molly is a co-head writer for the show.

The couple welcomed their first child, Jane, on July 10, 2014.

He has two children, Kevin and Katherine Kimmel, from his first marriage with Gina Maddy.
