Shocked Teresa Giudice reveals she was strip searched by prison guards who thought she was hiding a cell phone after daughter sent a tweet from her account

Teresa Giudice revealed how she was strip searched for contraband during a prison shakedown on Sunday's episode of The Real Housewives Of New Jersey. 

The imprisoned reality star ordered husband Joe to talk to her on the phone away from her children after officers at the prison searched her for a phone following a Twitter post made from her social media account by daughter Gia.

The tweet thanked fans for their support while the reality star serves her jail sentence and it left prison bosses unimpressed.

‘Our room got shaken down. I guess they were looking for a cell phone or something,’ she told Joe over the phone in the second part of the episode The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In.

‘They’re so invading, like you have to bend down and cough. Like where are you going to put it? Up there?,' she was overheard saying.

‘I don’t want her (Gia) to think she did anything wrong. She did’t do anything wrong. She did what I told her. I asked her to do it,' Teresa told her husband.

The phone call left Joe worried and upset about his wife’s treatment.

‘I never thought my wife would be getting a shakedown. That definitely makes me upset thinking my poor wife has to go through this bulls*** in there.

‘God they watch every little thing in there,' Joe said.

Earlier in the show Melissa Gorga took her daughters and Teresa’s girls to the nail salon.

Joe and his brother-in-law Joe Gorga meanwhile went to the gym to prepare him for his own prison sentence that will start after Teresa is released.

‘There’s guys like me in there that will bust your ass,’ Joe Gorga told him.

Melissa spoke warmly about Teresa’s daughter, Gabriella, 10, who she lauded for running the house while her mother was behind bars.

Gia, 14, told Melissa that her father was doing his best during her mom’s absence.

‘He is pretty good. He helps out. He tries his best but it is rough without my mom there,’ she said.

Melissa warned the teenager that she needed to still try and be a teenager while her mom is away and told her that she was there for her to talk about boys and relationships if she needed to.

‘She is very good at smiling and putting on the brave face and being strong. She is so much like her mom it is crazy,’ said Melissa.

‘Unfortunately no one is invincible but the girls are holding up really well. They are affected by it but in so many ways they are just moving on with their lives,' Melissa said.

Joe told Joe Gorga that he and Teresa were not having phone sex, but admitted that they exchange sexually explicit emails.

‘We just email all nasty things back and forth, you know, whatever I am going to do to her, whatever she is going to do to me,’ he told Joe.

Joe then was seen with his electric bicycle as he explained how his license was suspended following a court case brought by the DMV.

‘It’s a pain in the ass, it’s almost like you are locked up,’ he told lawyer James Leonard.

Leonard brought him Teresa’s diaries, which she wanted to share with Joe.

‘Anybody that thinks she is in some easy place,’ Leonard told Joe.

‘I am reading one night when she is breaking up a fight between two girls. Your wife stepped in and told one girl ‘'Why are you bothering her, you are bigger than her pick on someone your own size.''

‘It seems like she has everyone's respect in there. I don't think anyone looks cross-eyed at her.’

Joe agreed that Teresa was more than capable of ‘holding her own.’

‘She is surviving, lets put it that way. It is not horrible. But the thing is, you get into a fight and then you get shipped out to the real prison,' Joe said.

‘Where she is at is basically a camp. I know she can hold her own but it is still tough,' he said.

Leonard then told the cameras that inside prison Teresa has taken up yoga and meditation.

‘She is really trying to emerge more balanced and dealing with Teresa you can really see the difference. Don't get me wrong. She is a fire cracker and she still has her fuse but that fuse is longer now,' the lawyer said.

Joe fought back tears as he said it was still tough seeing Teresa.

Leonard told him that the night before one visit she used what money she had to pay one of the inmates to curl her hair the way Joe likes.

‘It is very powerful and emotional to hear her talk about you and the girls,’ said Leonard.

Joe told the attorney that his girls do not really know why Teresa is in jail and that they even think she may be working there.

’They do not look at us as bad people,’ said Joe.

‘My older daughter understands but she is dealing with it,’ said Joe as he and the lawyer smoked cigars.

‘It’s been a struggle. It hasn't been f***ing easy,’ he admitted as he told the lawyer he was getting himself mentally prepared for his own prison sentence. 

With the whole Gorga clan over for dinner the family got a phone call from Teresa.

‘I have not heard Teresa’s voice until right now and it is so overwhelming for me,’ said an emotional Melissa Gorga as she admitted ‘my heart fell.’

Gia then told the family that her mother ‘looks better’ despite being behind bars.

‘The first time seeing my mother was rough. But as weekends went by it became easier, but my dad still cries like a baby. He hugs my mom and just starts down pouring. I’m like ‘'Come on dad why do you have to make her upset.’'

Gia told her family that her mother’s hair is curly and she has not straightened it at all.

Joe Gorga revealed that it had taken him six month to get approved to visit his sister.

‘You know how bad that hurts?’ he told the cameras.

Joe’s attorney visited the house to discuss his potential deportation once he has completed his own 41-month prison sentence.

‘I mean if they feel that I am deportable then they could try to deport me, I am not saying they will win but that is another case afterwards,’ Joe told the cameras.

The lawyer asked Joe if Teresa and the girls would go with him to Italy if he was deported.

‘We have talked about it and of course she would. I would not really want that, I do not really know the laws there, I do not know s*** there,’ he said.

‘In order for me to go there it would be like an immigrant coming here and not knowing anything here.

‘I have been here 44 years, I came at the age of one, my parents are citizens, my brother and sister are citizens but I just never thought to go and file for citizenship. I consider myself an American besides eating pasta and eating sauce I don’t know anything about Italy,' Joe said.

‘I would find something to do. I have got plenty of family there but it is not something that we are looking forward to so we don’t talk about negative things,' he added.

In a July 4th phone call Teresa told Joe how a plane hd been flying over the prison with someone trying to shoot her picture when she goes outside.

And she explained that is why she decided to release a picture of her in her prison uniform with her daughters.

The Gorga family and the Giudice families then got together to take a trip to their New Jersey shore houses.

Joe said he was selling the shore house to pay his lawyer’s fees and on their trip down there they passed Fort Dix where he will serve his three years.

‘You can’t predict what is going to happen, today is not my day to go to jail. But when the time comes you prepare yourself,’ Joe told the cameras.

Joe took the opportunity to tell his daughter that he would be ‘working’ on the next July 4 holiday but that their mother would be with them.

And his daughter Milania was aghast when he told them he would be away for a couple of years.

‘It is tough talking to the girls and telling them you have to go away. Any time away from the girls sucks,’ said Joe.

‘But taking care of the kids is the most important thing, I will spend as much quality time as I can with them.’

Gia said she'd be ready when her father starts to serve his sentence. 

‘Now that the situation happened with my mom I know what is ahead of me,’ said Gia

‘So in March when my dad goes it obviously will not be easy but I am going to know what to expect this time,' she said.

Joe then took a train into New York to meet with an ex-con, Angelo Lutz, to discuss life behind bars.

‘I plead guilty. I wasn’t trying to do anything wrong. It is painful but at the same time it has definitely made me much stronger,’ said Joe.

Angelo talked him through daily life and gave him some hints and tips on surviving inside.

‘I am glad I met this guy. Now I am ready to get this over with and to get on with my life,’ Joe said.
