  • As Sanders approached the second car, it suddenly swerved and hit the bike
  • The crash was captured on video by fellow motorcyclist Brian Fisher
  • When Fisher approached the driver he continued to say 'I don't care' before claiming that a wasp stung him
  • Simpson had to be airlifted to the ICU and suffered a broken wrist and road rash that took her arm down 'to bone and tendon'
  • Sanders said the man was not arrested at the scene but that police have since seen the video

A driver who swerved and hit a couple on a motorcycle as they tried to pass him was captured on video saying he didn't care after the crash sent them tumbling off the road.

The video shows Eric Sanders and his girlfriend Debra Simpson attempting to pass two cars on a two-lane road in Texas on Saturday.

As Sanders approaches the second vehicle, the car suddenly swerves and clips the motorcycle. The impact sends Sanders and Simpson into a field next to the road as the bike flies in the opposite direction.

Sanders said his girlfriend had to be airlifted to an intensive care unit following the crash and suffered a broken wrist.

He added that road rash took her arm down 'to bone and tendon' from her elbow to her wrist and that she will undergo multiple surgeries as doctors attempt to repair her arm.

Sanders, who also suffered road rash, can be seen in the video quickly jumping up and taking off his helmet following the crash as Simpson lies still in the field.

He then approaches the driver of the car who hit the couple, asking him 'What were you doing? You hit them', to which the driver responds, 'I don't care' before saying that the couple tried to pass him on double-yellow lines.

'I got it on video too,' Fisher tells him, but the driver continues to repeat, 'I don't care, I don't care' before later claiming that a wasp stung him.

'You will care,' Fisher responds before he takes a picture of the man's license plate.

He then returns to the couple, where a number of concerned drivers have stopped their cars to check on Simpson as she laid injured in the field.

Sanders later wrote in a Facebook post that he attempted to pass the man over double-yellow lines because the driver was going 40 miles per hour in a 60 to 65 mile per hour zone.

'On impact I was only going about 60 or 65 miles an hour,' Sanders write. 'I was not speeding. I did not get a ticket for passing in a no passing.'

Sanders said the man was not arrested by police at the scene but that officers have seen the video and that the driver is 'gonna be prosecuted'.
