Kate Winslet cuts a glamorous figure in skin-tight dress as she joins co-star Michael Fassbender for UK premiere of Steve Jobs

At 40, Kate Winslet showed fans lining the red carpet yesterday a figure that would be the envy of women ten years younger.

But while her beauty at the premiere of her latest film is natural, she admitted getting a little help from the camera while making Steve Jobs, a biopic of the Apple founder.

The mother of three said a special 16mm lens used by director Danny Boyle had given the movie a glossy finish, making the actors seem fresh-faced.

She added: ‘It is fabulous – absolutely wonderful. I have to say I was thrilled.’

Appearing with co-stars Michael Fassbender and Jeff Daniels, Winslet stole the show outside the Odeon in Leicester Square for the event during the London Film Festival.

Winslet plays Joanna Hoffman – one of the original members of the team that launched the Apple Macintosh computer in 1984.

Recreate red carpet royalty in Kate's Alexander McQueen dress

The BFI London Film Festival has been a hotbed of high fashion so far. But Kate Winslet definitely saved the best for last!

She attended the Closing Night Gala premiere of Steve Jobs wearing this very elegant gown, which is by Alexander McQueen. The clean lines and one shoulder shape are super flattering, and we love the inky blue shade. The leather rope belt (also McQueen, of course!) nips Kate in at the waist, emphasising her hourglass figure, and when styled with a braided bun, she just oozes old school Hollywood glamour.

If you want to copy the queen of the red carpet then click (right) to Saks Fifth Avenue to buy the black version of her asymmetric gown, then snap up the belt from the gallery below.

The combined cost of Kate's outfit is just under $5000 so if you want the A-list look for less then check out our top five options. From a $40 bargain at Boohoo to a gown by another of Ms. Winslet's favourite labels, Safiyaa, we've got all budgets covered!

Hoffman made a name for herself as one of the few people able to confront the notoriously demanding Jobs – played by 38-year-old German-Irish actor Fassbender.

Sporting a floor-length, belted number with backless detail, the Winslet certainly pulled out all the stops to make an impression at the premiere.

Showing off her curvaceous figure in the skin-tight number, the acclaimed actress - whose hit films include Titanic and Hideous Kinky - was clearly feeling body confident.

Wearing her hair up in a statuesque bun, she capped the ensemble with De Beers earrings and a pair of delicate heels.

Making herself an enviable person among Fassbender fans, Winslet also cosied-up to the handsome actor, who stars as the Apple company visionary.

Looking typically dapper, he wowed in a black made to measure Thom Sweeney suit and bow tie, while adding some designer stubble to the mix.

Other guests at the event included Jeff Daniels, director Danny Boyle and Katherine Waterston, who all cut smart figures upon arrival.

Due for release on October 23rd, the movie is an eagerly anticipated story of technology's biggest success story in recent years.

Early reviews of the film have generally been quite positive with Cine-Vue.com and The Scotsman both giving the flick four stars apiece. Meanwhile The Independent rate the film with three stars and argues that: 'Danny Boyle captures the Apple guru's showmanship but the film runs out of steam.'

The film is based on a best-selling biography of Mr. Jobs by Walter Isaacson. The pair worked together before the book was published, but Jobs' friends have slammed it ahead of the film's release.

Producer Scott Rubin told the Wall Street Journal they offered Ms Jobs a part in the film's development, but she turned it down.

'She refused to discuss anything in Aaron’s script that bothered her despite my repeated entreaties,' he said.

Rubin added that she 'continued to say how much she disliked the book, and that any movie based on the book could not possibly be accurate.'
