'I just stroll in and master it!' Jimmy Kimmel dons a skin-tight pink tutu as he takes a ballet lesson from Misty Copeland

As a talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel is used to shining the spotlight on his famous guests.

But as he launched his week of shows filmed in Brooklyn, Kimmel stole the limelight in hilarious fashion - donning a skin tight pink tutu and dancing a ballet onstage.

Kimmel was joined by sidekick Guillermo in getting a lesson from ballet superstar Misty Copeland in her studio, before joining her onstage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with the rest of her supporting dancers.

And while he did not join in the dance, guess Bill Murray at least took part in the dressing up - coming out for his interview looking like a Shakespearean character with full Black Swan-style makeup covering his face.

‘How come no one else is dressed in dance gear?’ he quipped, with Kimmel back in a suit and tie.

‘I don’t know what you’re doing but you look great, you really do,’ Kimmel had told Murray.

Misty, who recently history as the first African-American Female Principal Dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre, burst into laughter when she first saw Jimmy and Guillermo in their pink outfits, saying: ‘Oh my God your legs are really hairy!’

But she soon changed her tune, telling Kimmel: ‘You actually have really gorgeous legs.’

‘She has a pretty good body too,’ Kimmel said later.

But it was another body part that played havoc for the talk show host, shocking Misty as he told her: ‘One of my testicles is coming out of the tutu area.’

‘When you dance like I do, every ballet is the Nutcracker,’ he quipped.

Kimmel then joked that Misty was only so tough on him during rehearsals because ballet is such a competitive world she was clearly jealous.

‘You get someone like me who shows up and they’re immediately good at it - it had to bother her,’ he joked in an ‘interview’ filmed later, reality TV style.

But after watching them rehearse, Misty said: ‘Ballet was born in Italy more than 600 years ago. And today it dies.’

But their performance was better than the rehearsals would suggest, ending with Misy perched on Jimmy’s shoulder - with him also straddling Guillermo who gave the thumbs up.

During his interview with Murray, Kimmel mostly teased him for his beloved Chicago Cubs losing their first two games against the New York Mets, saying he was still in a ‘Cubs induced depression’.

As a member of the audience shouted ‘go Mets’, Murray responded: ‘That works fine here, son.’

And as Kimmel continued his teasing - suggesting Murray may have played a part in jinxing his beloved team - Murray finally stressed: ‘It’s a seven game series, Jimmy.’

Kimmel’s musical guest was Ryan Adams, signing Welcome To New York from his album covering every song on Taylor Swift’s 1989.
