Carey Mulligan shows off her svelte post-baby body just one month after giving birth as she reunites with co-star Meryl Streep at ELLE Women In Hollywood Awards

They star in a new film chronicling the British women's suffrage movement.

And Meryl Streep was clearly more than thrilled to reunite with her co-star Carey Mulligan at the ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards inside the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles At Beverly Hills on Monday night.

The 66-year-old Oscar winner warmly pulled the 30-year-old new mother in for a kiss, narrowly missing her lips in the process as she presented her with an award on stage.

Carey is among a number of leading ladies to serve as the cover model for Elle's Women in Hollywood issue.

Clearly keen to make a lasting impression, the actress looked her absolute best for the big event, exemplifying her fashion prowess in a baby blue blazer that had a few quirky buttons attached along the lapel.

And the star's appearance was even more impressive, given that she only gave birth to her first child with musician husband Marcus Mumford - daughter Evelyn - four weeks ago.

Give your tailoring a feminine twist in pastel shades like Carey Mulligan

We love this look on Carey Mulligan.

The British actress looked fantastic at the Elle Awards in Los Angeles last night and we've fallen hard for this dainty take on tailoring. We like an androgynous outfit as much as the next person but there's nothing wrong with giving it a feminine edge, which this trouser suit certainly does.

From Marc Jacobs' SS16 collection it's a rather fabulous shade of pastel blue and all those satin trims and the sharp lapels are inspiring thoughts of 1980s proms and boys in their fathers' suits.

It looks great on Carey's slender frame and if you love it as much as we do then why not incorporate some washed out shades into your suits and jackets? We've found some pastel looks at ASOS and J. Crew or just work a blue blazer from Topshop.

Either way, suits are going girly next season so get ahead of the game now.

The jacket was unbuttoned to expose her plunging and matching satin top, which showed off her ample assets to full effect.

Carey's face shone with a slick of cat eye liner applied behind her curled lashes, and her complexion was complete with light pink blush.

The An Education actress parted her glossy brunette locks at the side, pinning her sleek strands behind her ears.

Looking picture perfect, Carey smiled as she worked her magic for photographers.

Carey looked thrilled to be taking the stage, and appeared poised and empowered as she spoke to her peers on the podium.

The actress certainly has plenty on her plate, with the release of her new drama Suffragette and the birth of her first child.

Carey and her husband Marcus Mumford, 28, who got married in 2012, welcomed their daughter in September.

Although there was nothing that could wipe the smile off her face, the Suffragette actress recently admitted it's been a tough balancing act managing her worldwide promotional trail for her latest release with mothering her daughter Evelyn.

Speaking to E! News, she said: 'The last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful. Doing press and doing it with a tiny baby, timing has been very important and babies do what they want, which is a challenge.'

However, she added co-star Meryl, 66, who has four grown-up children, Henry, Mamie, Grace and Louisa, has been very helpful.

Carey explained: 'It's really helpful when you have Meryl Streep backstage at events shouting at people on your behalf, telling them to hurry the hell up because you have a nursing mother here.'

The actress revealed to Entertainment Tonight that they had named her Evelyn.

Only weeks after giving birth to Evelyn, Carey walked the red carpet premiere for Suffragette in New York.

The period drama tells the story of the British women's suffrage movement of the late 19th and early 20th century, with Meryl playing British suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst.

Carey's character Maud Watts is a working wife and mother whose life is forever changed when she is secretly recruited to join the UK's growing suffragette movement led by Pankhurst.

Suffragette is out now in the UK and hits cinemas in the US on October 23.
