James Corden sings with Harry Potter, the Queen and Sherlock Holmes impersonators in bid to get The Ellen Show on TV in the UK

James Corden is supporting Ellen DeGeneres’ bid to get her TV show airing in the UK.

The 37-year-old Late Late Show host sat down for an interview with the comedienne – which airs on Tuesday – before launching into a passionate song.

James was joined by people impersonating Queen Elizabeth II, Harry Potter and Sherlock, all while waving Union Jack flags, as he belted out, ‘Get Elley on the telly.’

Ellen sat back laughing as she watched the funny performance, which among its more amusing lyrics included: ‘My life is a mess, with no DeGeneres.’

Sienna Miller and Jessie J have previously appeared on The Ellen Show and supported the host’s efforts to get it airing in England.

It’s no surprise that James was happy to help – he gushed about being a huge fan of Ellen during their interview together.

‘You have such an amazing audience. The most incredible audience I’ve ever seen!’ the Into The Woods star said.

‘I don’t know if our show would exist without your show because I’d never seen anyone do a show where it’s like, “We’re just going to have a great time every day.” And you did that.’

When Ellen praised James’ Carpool Karaoke segment on his show, in which he drives a celebrity around while they sing together, the funnyman was thrilled.

‘Well it’s very nice that you say that, because we have ideas probably every day, where someone will go, “We should do this!” And I lose track of the amount of times someone will go, “Yeah they did that on Ellen,”’ he admitted.

Perhaps James’ favourite guest to date was Stevie Wonder, who he revealed spent three hours singing with him because he ‘wanted to keep going’.

‘He was like, “Come on, let’s do another one!”’ James recalled. ‘I was like, “OK Stevie Wonder!” He called my wife and sang, “I just called to say James loves you,” which made me cry.’

Speaking about why the simple concept is so effective, he said: ‘These huge stars, they travel with huge teams, they have lots and lots of people with them. So suddenly, they’re just on their own, and it’s just us in the car.

‘And I think there’s something very joyful about seeing someone sing their hits in the environment that we sing them in all the time.’

James then invited Ellen to take part, but she pointed out that she isn’t a singer.

‘I’ve seen, and you’ve got skills,’ James said. ‘So what I’m saying is there is no one else on the planet artist, you would have an exemption to be the only non-singer we would ever do it with.’
