Hispanic congressman to Saturday Night Live: Cancel 'hateful and racist' Trump!

  • Rep. Luis Gutierrez, an Illinois Democrat, wrote to NBC insisting that Trump has insulted 'all Latinos and all immigrants'
  • Trump shot back that NBC would only dump him from Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7 'if they want to do the show with one-third the ratings'
  • Gutierrez has hammered The Donald before, calling in July for green card holders to become citizens just to make Trump angry
  • He's determined to make as much noise as possible about SNL 'giving the Trump campaign 90 minutes of free network airtime'

A Hispanic congressman who has hammered Donald Trump in the past for his aggressive immigration policy is demanding that NBC and Comcast 'disinvite' the billionaire from hosting 'Saturday Night Live.'

Trump, who leads the Republican Party's presidential primary field, is scheduled to headline the show on November 7.

The gig 'is a level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said since the moment he launched his campaign is acceptable and no big deal,' Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez wrote to the network and its parent company this week.

'Well, it is a big deal. He said Mexicans are rapists, criminals and drug-dealers, and to be clear, when he said Mexicans are those things, he was tarring all Latinos and all immigrants.'

Trump has made illegal immigration a centerpiece of his White House run, arguing that the nation of Mexico has intentionally sent its worst criminals to the United States

NBC said in July that it had terminated its relationship with Trump and their jointly owned 'Miss Universe' pageant because of 'recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants.'

Trump later bought out NBC's stake in the pageant's parent organization and sold the enterprise to the WME/IMG talent agency.

The Donald has become a one-man TV ratings bonanza, with networks scrambling to book him and capture the eyeballs that inevitably follow.

He predicted Monday on CNN that his appearance would send NBC's viewership numbers 'through the roof.'

'I don't see that at all,' he added when asked if the network might cancel on him.

'If they want to do the show with one-third the ratings, they might do that. ... Lorne Michaels is a very smart guy, NBC are very smart people,' Trump said.

NBC risked losing him entirely after Trump declined to renew his contract for 'Celebrity Apprentice' in favor of making a White House bid in earnest.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will replace him on the show.

Gutierrez is determined to make as much noise as possible about Trump's return to the network that shunned him just three months ago, demanding that NBC back out of 'giving the Trump campaign 90 minutes of free network airtime.'

'I think I speak for a lot of Americans, especially immigrant Americans and Latino Americans, when I say that if SNL is allowed to proceed, it would be a huge corporate blunder,' he added.

'Please do the right thing and dump Trump.'

Gutierrez isn't new to the Trump wars. He urged green-card-holding legal immigrants in July to become U.S. citizens just to make the Republican front-runner angry.

'Every time you see Trump’s face on your TV, vow to learn a little more English or a few more history facts so you can take the [citizenship] test,' he said during a speech on the House floor.

'Let’s turn Trump’s negative words into something positive. That is how you deal with bullies and bigots.'
