Premier League dominates all income, and is closing in on the NFL - 10 things we learned from UEFA finance report

UEFA's new report into the finances of Europe's leagues shows that, more than ever, the Premier League is dominant.

The gap, in financial terms, between England's elite and the rest of Europe has grown again, while Arsenal have moved up to second in terms of most gate money, only behind Real Madrid.

Sportsmail's Nick Harris pulls out the key points from the report...

1: Premier League heads list of most rich clubs

The amount of clubs with in Europe income of €100m+ per year has grown from 24 in 2009 to 45 at the end of 2014.

Of the richest 30 clubs by income in Europe, the country with the most is England: 12 of them are in the Premier League.

2: Premier League income dwarves every other nation

The Premier League annual income of €3.9 billion (£3.3bn) makes it the richest by far in Europe.

In fact the 20 clubs together make more than the 48 smallest leagues in Europe combined.

3: Premier League TV income outstrips every other league by far

The League's collective annual TV income of €1.92bn (about £1.6bn) is more than double that of the next best league, Italy's Serie A (€888m), almost treble that of Spain's La Liga (€741m), and more than treble that of Germany's Bundesliga (€577m) and France's Ligue 1 (€509m).

It's around 50 times as much as the annual TV revenues in Scotland, Russia and Norway.

4: Premier League make more at the gate than anyone

The Premier League's clubs make an average of €34.3m from tickets per year, or €685m together, far more than any league.

On a club-by-club basis, Real Madrid make the most gate money in Europe but Arsenal at are No2, Manchester United at No3, Barcelona at No4 and supposedly fan-friendly cheap Bayern Munich at No5.

The fact is that Bayern have very varied 'stretch' pricing which means some very cheap season tickets for lots of fans but some of the most expensive 'prawn sandwich' and top-price 'ordinary' seats in Europe.

5: Premier League overtake the Germans in efficiency of raising sponsorship and commercial funds

The League's club now make more money each year than any league from this source, which includes shirt and kit deals, and at clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City, all kinds of international partnership deals with firms that flog everything from scooters to noodles to marine equipment and fizzy drinks.

6: Wages in Europe on the up and up for almost two decades.

7: Premier League clubs have six of the top-13 payers in Europe

8: Premier League are squads among the most expensive to assemble

Fifteen squads across Europe have cost €200m+ to assemble in transfer fees, including six from the Premier League.

9: European football combined earns 80 per cent of US's major sports; and Premier League bigger than NBA

10: ... and the Premier League is about to get rich still. Much richer.

In fact by 2017 it will be the highest earning sports league in the world, overtaking even the NFL in average earnings by team.
