Carey Mulligan showcases her post-baby figure in lilac dress at Suffragette premiere... as she admits nursing infant is 'a challenge'

Carey Mulligan continued her dazzling promotional tour for her new film Suffragette on Tuesday by attending the LA premiere for the movie at the Acadmey Of Motion Picture, Arts & Sciences in Beverly hills.

The new mom appeared to be taking everything in her stride and looked radiant in another gorgeous designer frock that flattered her post-baby body.

The floaty layered dress in a very pale lilac perfectly showcased her lithe figure that belied the reality that the 30-year-old actress gave birth to daughter Evelyn just four weeks ago.

Looking at Carey Mulligan here in Beverley Hills on the red carpet, you would never believe she gave birth four weeks ago. Yes, we said four!

The new mum looked sensational in a lilac halter dress, flying the flag for winter pastels, teaming the pick with sugary green colored heels too. It's a trend we normally associate with spring, but we think it looks great in winter, especially in purple, blue and green hues - we'd leave lemon well alone until next year!

The frill detail dress is by Oscar de la Renta and being from the spring 2016 collection, it's not available to buy just yet. If you click right through to Net-a-Porter though, you'll find the designer's current line up for grabs.

The English beauty paired her dress with matching pumps and wore her brunette hair swept back into an elegant chignon.

She added a splash of color and completed the look with some fuchsia lipstick. 

She and husband Marcus Mumford, 28, welcomed their first child in September but have kept details of her under wraps.  

But inevitably as she does the round of press interviews to publicize Suffragette, the actress has let a few tantalizing details slip about being a new mother.

She only revealed her daughter's name last week at the New York premiere for the film.

And she admitted to E! News on Monday that promoting a film while nursing an infant is not easy.

'The last couple of weeks have been pretty stressful,' she said. 'Doing press and doing it with a tiny baby, timing has been very important and babies do what they want, which is a challenge.'

'But it's really helpful when you have Meryl Streep backstage at events shouting at people on your behalf—telling them to hurry the hell up because you have a nursing mother here.'

The period drama tells the story of the British women's suffrage movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with Streep playing the famous suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst.

Carey's character Maud Watts is a working wife and mother whose life is forever changed when she is secretly recruited by Pankhurst to join the growing movement committed to winning women the vote.

Suffragette opens in movie theatres in the U.S. on Friday.
