Savers benefit from booming buy-to-let loans: Challenger banks are upping their rates so

Many new banks do not offer mortgages to ordinary homeowners, so instead the profits on the savings they bring in come from other types of loans. As these are typically charged at higher rates than residential mortgages, their savings deals can seem far better than traditional banks - and the gap is widening.
