What red-eye! Fergie looks happy and rested despite jetting in overnight from New York as she takes her little cutie Axl to the park

She jetted back into Los Angeles in the early hours of Thursday morning after a working trip in New York.

And a few hours later pop singer and proud mum Fergie was seen out with her precious son Axl in a park near their home in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

The 40-year-old appeared to be well rested despite her red-eye flight.

She was the image of casual chic in a black shirt with a light geometric pattern, frayed denim shorts, brown suede booties and a black wide-brimmed hat.

Fergie added a loosely knotted scarf printed with black and brown circular images that pulled the colours of her ensemble together.

Her three-year-old looked like a little rocker in what appeared to be black leather trousers, a black sweatshirt with images of the pirates' white skull and crossbones across the front and black booots.

The careful mom made sure her adorable, white blond tot's eyes were covered by wayfarer-style sunglasses. And he carried a blue toy car in each hand as he walked.

Fergie, real name Stacy Ann Ferguson, shares Axl with her husband of six years, Josh Duhamel who has been on daddy duty since his wife flew to New York last week.

The eight-time Grammy winner was in the city for two events - the bow of her eponymous shoe brand at Lord & Taylor last Thursday and the launch of her latest Avon fragrance, Outspoken Party, the fifth scent in her range, on Monday.

Fergie was spotted checking into JFK on Wednesday afternoon in an outfit that was definitely more country than rock and roll.

The L.A. Love hitmaker was dressed in light brown suede trousers that looked a lot like the chaps that hard-working cowboys wear, which she teamed with well-worn leather boots.

She also donned a light blue denim jacket with a shaggy white collar worn over a white T-shirt with a graphic image and carried a large stone colour leather bag.

She left her blonde hair loose to cascade over her shoulders and she wore a very large pair of celebrity must-have dark glasses.

Fergie jetted into LAX was also spotted checking in at JFK in New York a few hours earlier.

After her week away, the hard-working mum-of-one was doubtless delighted to get back home but she won't get much of a break. Fergie is about to launch her second album after a nine-year hiatus and she's planning a tour.

However, last week she told E! News that she and Josh hope to give Axl a sibling, saying:  'After the album and the tour, we would love to have another child. Absolutely.'

She also hinted she would like a baby daughter, saying: 'My gosh, it would be amazing to give my little girl her own fragrance collection done by mommy. Wow, that would be special.'
