Passionate hugs and kisses, and then a scenic helicopter ride - Matt Bellamy must have been on cloud nine.

The Muse frontman and ex-fiancé of Kate Hudson proved that love can happen again as he enjoyed a passion-filled interlude in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Tuesday with blonde girlfriend Elle Evans.

The couple was seen locking lips in a quiet corner of a covered patio and apparently oblivious to their surroundings, with Elle perched on his lap and her hand placed on the nape of his neck.

Matt, 37, seemed to be totally entranced by the 25-year-old model-actress, who appeared in the band's Mercy music video.

He was seen nuzzling his cheek against hers, his face partially hidden in the long, waving strands of her hair.

The English singer appeared to be making the most of his downtime before he joins his Muse bandmates on stage at Rio's HSBC Arena on Thursday.

Matt was clad in a simple white cotton T-shirt, stylish khaki trousers with side pockets and beige suade shoes.

Elle, who hails from Paris, Texas, was a spirited sight in a short artfully-patterned dress that skimmed the tops of her thighs and featured a girly pink sash around the waist.

The leggy 5 ft 10 beauty appeared to tower a few inches over her man thanks to flowery platform sandals.

Elle's style bordered on the whimsical thanks to her flower choker and round, pink-framed shades, and her mass of golden hair was pulled up in a high ponytail.

The happy twosome started dating in April, this being Matt's first relationship since his split from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star Kate.

Elle also stars in the music video for Muse's song Mercy, the chart-topping single from their latest album Drones.

Matt and Kate, who share four-year-old son Bingham together, announced their break-up after four years together in December 2014.

Kate, 36, has since been linked to professional dancer Derek Hough and most recently 23-year-old Nick Jonas.

The daughter of Goldie Hawn remains philosophical about her split from Matt, telling the November issue of Allure: 'Relationships ending are painful, and you can choose to carry that or you can choose to reframe it.

'If Matt and I had a great relationship, we would still be together, but we chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives.

'That doesn't mean, though, that we can't rebuild something that would be the best thing for the kids.'
