Kenny Chesney enjoyed some fun in the sun with pro surfer pal Laird Hamilton on Wednesday, shortly after wrapping his latest tour.

The 47-year-old country crooner left Nashville for a trip to Malibu, California, and he certainly seemed to be enjoying himself.

Kenny went shirtless and revealed his tanned and fit physique on the beach.

The When The Sun Goes Down hit-maker was clad in a pair of low-slung, baggy grey swimming trunks and a matching baseball cap.

Kenny and Laird, 51, weren’t just relaxing however – they got some exercise in as they played bocce ball with a group of friends, with one pal even doing some handstands.

The singer then tried out his hand at paddleboarding, and he quickly got the hang of it.

Gliding along: The 47-year-old showed his strength as he appeared to be navigating his paddleboard with ease

Kenny revealed his strength as he expertly glided across the water, without appearing in any danger of falling off the board.

Meanwhile, Laird was clad in a pair of dark grey swimming trunks. He and Kenny were recently spotted enjoying a day on the beach with Orlando Bloom.

Kenny is enjoying some time off after finishing The Big Revival Tour, which ran across North America from March until August.

The star will next be performing during Runaway Country Music Fest in Kissimmee, Florida in March.

Kenny was briefly married to Renee Zellweger in 2005, with the couple announcing their plans for annulment just four months after their wedding.

When the actress cited ‘fraud’ as the reason for their split in the annulment papers, rumours began swirling that Kenny was gay, but he denied this to Playboy magazine in 2009.

‘What guy who loves girls wouldn’t be angry about that? I didn’t sign up for that,’ he said. ‘I’m pretty confident in the fact that I love girls. I’ve got a long line of girls who could testify that I’m not gay.’

Kenny added that by 2001, he had slept with over 100 women.

Renee also denied the claims, explaining that using the term ‘fraud’ was ‘simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character’.
