EXCLUSIVE: Bristol Palin ends bitter battle over child support with ex Levi Johnston - but another fight may be brewing with father of baby girl due to be born out of wedlock in just weeks

  • The eldest daughter of Sarah Palin has reached agreement with Levi Johnston over the amount of child support for their 6-year-old son Tripp
  • Bristol will be giving birth to a girl in December
  • She refuses to reveal the identity of the baby's father
  • But the 25-year-old announced her pregnancy in June - just one month after calling off her wedding to former Marine Dakota Meyer, 27
  • Bristol wrote on her blog that the pregnancy was a 'disappointment' to friends and family, but said it was 'planned'

Bristol Palin's long-running battle with her baby daddy over child support is finally over — just in time for her to start another one.

The eldest daughter of 2008 vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has come to an agreement with Levi Johnston over how much he should pay towards the upkeep of their 6-year-old son Tripp.

But terms of the agreement, reached in court in Anchorage, Alaska, have been kept under seal.

Palin, 25, became a spokesman for the Candie's Foundation — a non-profit dedicated to preventing teen pregnancy — after Tripp was born, receiving $262,000 in one year for her work, according to her tax returns.

After telling Good Morning America in 2009 that she 'guaranteed' that she would not have any more sex until she was married, Palin is now expecting her second child, a daughter.

She has not revealed the identity of the father.

But she disclosed she was pregnant in June, less than a month after calling off her wedding to Afghanistan war hero, Dakota Meyer. The baby is due in December.

She admitted that her second out-of-wedlock pregnancy was 'a huge disappointment to my family.'

'I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy,' Palin added. 'Everyone knows I wanted more kids, to have a bigger family. Believing I was heading that way, I got ahead of myself. Things didn't go as planned, but life keeps going on.'

The deal with Johnston, her classroom sweetheart from Wasilla High School, was finally hashed out last month in front of Judge Mark Rindner, after three years of nasty courtroom fights, court records reveal.

The warring former couple had been due to appear in court on September 14, but came to an agreement six days earlier. Neither Johnston nor Palin's lawyer John Tiemessen immediately returned Daily Mail Online's call for comment.

The settlement should mark an end to the roller-coaster battle between the couple, who first hit the headlines during the 2008 Republican National Convention when they turned up for a show of family solidarity with Sarah Palin, who had been chosen by presidential candidate John McCain as running mate.

Sarah Palin announced the oldest of her five children was pregnant as the convention began, as she attempted to spin what could have been a family embarrassment into a positive, life-affirming narrative.

Johnston, then just 18, looked uncomfortable in his dark blazer and purple striped tie as he gripped Bristol's hand and was later called on stage in St. Paul, Minnesota, with McCain and his running mate.

At the time, Sarah Palin insisted the expectant parents would get married, but the relationship soon went south and they called off their engagement in March the following year, just three months after Tripp was born.

Palin went on to write Not Afraid of My Life, a book about getting pregnant at 17, in which she called Johnston a 'gnat' who had 'stolen her virginity' while she was drunk. But then she insisted to Good Morning America's Robin Roberts that she was 'not accusing Levi of date rape — or rape at all.

'I'm looking back with adult eyes and thinking, that was a foolish decision. I should never have been under-age drinking, and I should never have gotten myself into a situation like that.

That began a round of court battles which started off bitterly and only got worse. In an initial affidavit Johnston asked for the hearings to be public 'as a check against anyone's need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious.'

He added: 'Not that Bristol would be that way, nor would I. But her mother is powerful, politically ambitious and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive…So, I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin's instinct to attack.'

In November 2013, Johnston filed court documents attempting to get 50/50 custody of Tripp. At the time, he claimed it was in the little boy's best interests to have his father around just as much as his mom.

Palin, who had been awarded full custody by a previous judge, claimed the custody demand was an attempt by the former oilfield worker to reduce his child support payments.

Her lawyer claimed in court that Johnston, who had appeared naked — but not full frontal — in Playgirl after the split, owed $66,000 in back payments.

Shortly afterwards, Palin headed to court again, claiming Johnston, who now has two children from his marriage to Sunny Oglesby, was an unfit parent, saying he had no regular visits with his firstborn and that rather than pay child support, he spent all his money on fancy cars, hunting and extravagant trips.

Palin herself had lucrative deals. Apart from the Candie's money, she appeared on Dancing With the Stars, wrote a 2011 memoir and had a reality show, Life's a Tripp, on Lifetime TV, which was cancelled after one season.

She used her new-found wealth to buy a five-bedroom home in Arizona, but soon got homesick and moved back to Alaska.

By 2014, she was claiming she had not earned a penny in 18 months and pushed a judge to increase Johnston's child support payments to $1,750 a month.

Within weeks of that filing, it was Johnston's turn to increase the heat, asking a judge to find Palin in contempt of court for taking Tripp out of Alaska without his permission.

In recent years, Bristol has become a regular blogger, showing strong support for her mother's strident conservative views while frequently slamming President Obama and other Democrats.

She seemed to find the ideal partner in Meyer, the second youngest person ever to be awarded the Medal of Honor. He received the medal from Obama for his action in the Battle of Ganjgal, Afghanistan, when he rescued several wounded comrades in the face of withering enemy fire.

Meyer and Palin had met in May 2014 during filming of Sarah Palin's Sportsman Channel show Amazing America and they got engaged during a Rascal Flatts concert in Las Vegas early this year, planning a wedding in Meyer's native Kentucky over the Memorial Day weekend.

But less than a week before the ceremony, Palin announced the wedding would not take place and instead of tying the knot she set off on an RV trip in Alaska with an exotic model.

A month later she announced her pregnancy, although she has refused to say whether war hero Meyer is the father. Last week she revealed that she is expecting a baby girl.
