She's been promoting a string of major movie roles in recent months.

And for another red carpet at another film festival on Thursday, Dame Helen Mirren, 70, pulled out all the stops.

The actress was the belle of the ball at the Tokyo International Film Festival opening ceremony, wowing in a stunning blossom-print gown with a sweetheart neckline as she led the celeb arrivals.

Helen, who is promoting her drama with Ryan Reynolds Woman in Gold at the 10-day festival, chose a show-stopping dress for the glittering opening night.

The white satin number was covered in a pretty blossom print while the curve-hugging bodice with a sweetheart neckline was covered with a sheer, floral embroidered overlay.

With a flowing train and full skirt, Helen showed off the gorgeous gown to its full effect as she twirled for the cameras on the red carpet.

Look fabulous in florals with a printed dress like Helen's

Wowza, looking at Helen Mirren on the red carpet for the Tokyo International Film Festival you'd never guess the actress was over 70 would you? She dazzled in a cream floral print full length gown, complete with bandeau top and sheer floral appliqued neckline.

Not a million miles away from a wedding dress, this show stopping frock is one of Helen's most stand out looks to date and she made sure all eyes were on her as she attended the opening ceremony of the festival. We love the soft blossom print detail to the silk satin layered skirt, not to mention the way it gathers and flows as she moves. The illusion neckline with sheer lace applique has been a key trend this past season - both in bridal wear and evening wear and is hugely flattering on all.

Of course Helen's gown is a couture number which we wouldn't be able to get our hands on even if we tried, but if you have a black tie event or ceremony to attend and are looking for something equally fabulous then check our favorites below. Evening wear designers such as Adrianna Papell, Rickie Freeman and Theia are great places to start, but we also found a cheeky bargain in this Chi Chi London frock at Asos.

The actress added to the glam factor with a slick of glossy red lip colour and a touch of blusher to accentuate her flawless complexion.

Her short bob was swept into a side-parting while a pair of glittering drop earrings topped off the stunning ensemble.

She may be considered one of cinema's great beauties, but Dame Helen admitted in a recent interview with the Guardian that she 'hates' the word beautiful.

'Kate Moss is beautiful, so is David Beckham, and I can appreciate a beautiful girl walking down the street. Young is beautiful. But the majority of us are something else, and I wish there was another word for it,' the newly appointed face of L'Oreal Paris explained.

'I definitely don't look better now than when I was young,' she added. 'Definitely not. Of course I looked better then. The great thing that happens as you age is that you don't really give a flying f**k. I don't look so good, but I don't care.'

The actress also spoke out on roles for women in Hollywood in the candid interview, pointing out that the film industry has to follow in real life's lead.

'When roles for women in real life change, then you will see change in the film industry,' she said. 'If we happen to see a [female] president of the United States, and a world expert on marine biology comes on television and it's a woman, or the female head of a petroleum company on the news.

While she continues to fight for a greater variety of roles for woman, the British actress has notched up a string of leading parts this year.

In Woman In Gold, which was released in the UK over the summer, she plays Maria Altmann, an elderly Jewish woman who attempts to reclaim family possessions that were seized by the Nazis, among them a famous portrait of her beloved Aunt Adele.

Ten days ago Helen was at the 59th BFI London Film Festival to promote her next movie, Trumbo.

In the film Helen plays Hedda Hopper, one of America's best-known gossip columnists in the 1930s, notorious for feuding with her arch-rival Louella Parsons.

Alongside Helen on the Tokyo Film Festival red carpet on Thursday was an equally glam Hilary Swank, who is promoting her film, You're Not You at the festival, which closes October 31.
