They spend inordinate amounts of time together as frequent collaborators.

But ladies man Bradley Cooper has spoken out to say he would 'never' bed his much younger Silver Linings Playbook co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

The pair have now appeared in four movies together, including American Hustle and the forthcoming Joy. Three of the films have been directed by David O Russell.

The dress that Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence wore to Comic-Con in California is definitely giving us some food for thought!

But despite fevered speculation that they could be more than just friends, the chivalrous A-Team actor insisted that has never been on the cards.

When shock jock Howard Stern asked him if they might do the deed together when the actor appeared on his show Wednesday, the 40-year-old said 'never.'

Bradley was also quizzed on if it was due to him being 15 years older than the Hunger Games actress, as he had once alluded too, but the cerebral star admitted it had in fact been a non sequitur that blew up in his face when he started dating the much younger Suki Waterhouse soon after.

He said: 'I said that once on a red carpet just as a diffuse thing and then it became a thing because the girl I was seeing was as young as she was.'

In fact that was something of a fib as professional clotheshorse Suki is in fact even younger than Jennifer, and is still only 23-years-old. She was two years younger when they started their relationship.

Tactical public relations blunders aside, Bradley insisted his relationship was Jennifer was of a different nature to the one he has with his flavour of the month girlfriends.

The Wedding Crashers star said: 'It just didn’t happen. It’s not the way we are together.'

Beefcake Bradley has been dating model Irina Shayk since May, and it had been claimed she is not keen on his close friendship with Jennifer.

Of course, the heart works in mysterious ways, but at this juncture it seems safe to say he will not be getting up to any extracurricular activities with the saucy actress any time soon.

The pair can next be seen together in Joy, which tells the exciting story of a struggling single mother who invents a mop, which leads her to becoming president of her own company. The picture is being released on Christmas Day.

Bradley did admit he is quite taken with demure beauty Amy Schumer, going so far as to admit he would not let her leave when they were together at showbiz bash together.

He said: 'She is very attractive. We had an awkward exchange at the MTV Movie Awards when we didn’t know each other.

'All that stuff of her getting called and me saying no, no, no, that really happened. I thought I was getting a little creepy because I was making her stay.'

The bubbly blonde has already used his behaviour as comedic fodder, joking during her hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live earlier this month she was now in a relationship with the self-styled thespian.

The Trainwreck actress said: 'I don't know how Hollywood works, but I'm pretty sure that I'm dating Bradley Cooper.'

Another nugget of comedy gold for fans of the much-hyped comedienne to enjoy.
