At the time, a proud Snoop wrote: ‘Congrats @cbroadus I watched you ok from 5 years old till now what a ball playa you have become it is a pleasure watching you play. Fight on young man! [sic]’
Broadus was pushed into the sport by his musician father, who had always dreamed of becoming a professional athlete, and came up in the Snoop Youth Football League.
They starred in a reality series called ‘Snoop & Son: A Dad’s Dream’ which chronicled the youngster’s recruitment process.
He ended up opting for UCLA over USC, which is Snoop’s favorite team.
But after committing to the UCLA Bruin and set to join the roster as a freshman, Broadus failed to show up on the field as the team began their fall preparations in San Bernardino, California.
Broadus remained enrolled at the school, but decided to move away from sport because he wanted to pursue a career in film instead.
In a statement on the team’s website at the time, UCLA head football coach Jim Mora said: ‘Cordell informed me that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life - in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions.
'Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.’
