The Weekend will avoid jail after pleading no contest to assaulting a police officer.

The 25-year-old was arrested in Las Vegas in January after he punched a cop in the head.

According to TMZ, the R&B star was embroiled in a fight at the Cromwell hotel, and the officer got clocked when he tried to break it up.

On Wednesday the I Can't Feel My Face hitmaker entered his plea in a Vegas court, which means he will stay out of prison if he stays out of trouble.

The judge ordered him to pay $1,000 to an injured cop fund, complete anger management and undergo an alcohol evaluation.

He must also put in 50 hours of community service, which the judge allowed him to complete in his native Canada.

In the latest edition of Rolling Stone, the singer opened up about an alcohol-fueled encounter of a different kind - with Taylor Swift.

In the cover story, he said he and his fellow 25-year-old got a little touchy-feely during their first meeting.

'She was like, "I've been listening to The Morning [from his first mixtape House of Balloons, released in 2011] for years — it's one of my favorite songs ever!" I mean, she might have just Googled it. But she seemed genuine.'

After about 15 minutes of hanging out the two got a bit more familiar with one another as the Earned It singer said: 'But the whole time she was talking, she was kind of, like, petting my hair?

'I think she was just drawn to it — she must have been a little gone off a few drinks.'

The Weekend continued: 'And of course I'm not going to be like, "Hey, can you stop?" I mean, it felt good! But when she started petting my hair, that's when I was like, "I definitely need a drink."'

The Canadian singer is currently in a relationship with 19-year-old model Bella Hadid as they have been spotted on recent outings together including her birthday in New York a week-and-a-half ago.

Taylor has been dating hunky Scottish DJ Calvin Harris as they have been romantically linked since March.

The Weeknd has enjoyed the most mainstream success of his career this year as his most recent singles Can't Feel My Face and The Hills both hit number one on the US charts while his track for the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack Earned It reached number three.
