Adele releases stunning new video for comeback single Hello as Twitter goes wild for her latest musical offering

Adele has delighted her fans with the release of a stunning new video for her latest single, Hello.

In the black and white film, which stars 90210's Tristan Wilds, she can be seen entering the house of her past and removing the covers from her furniture in a nostalgic setting.

The release comes as Twitter goes wild for her single, after the first play emerged on Nick Grimshaw's Radio One breakfast show on Friday morning.

Gazing into the camera, she sings: 'Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet.'

Earlier in the day, Adele told Nick the song was about missing her friends from the past and wanting to let them know.

She said: 'It's not just about relationships with my exes, it's friendships as well. I'm so fond of every part of my life, good and bad, because it's made me who I am.'

While most people loved the song, not everyone was a fan.

One user said: 'This new Adele song better not be overplayed on the radio.'

Adele was interviewed on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on Friday as she talked about the nerves behind her comeback and debuted her new single for the first time in full.

The London-born singer, 27, whose new single, Hello was teased as a clip during the X Factor on Sunday, said she was worried how it was going to go.

'I full on started panicking when I woke up on Sunday,' she told Grimshaw. 'I've been planning it [the teaser], for a while and I was nervous.

'I was just relieved that nothing has to be a secret anymore. They played it after a pizza advert... typical,' she laughed.

'I don't remember how it felt. It went quiet in my house. I thought everyone would think it was a John Lewis advert.

'Then I went on Twitter. I've lost my password so I looked on my browser and I could only see three tweets, so I thought that's it, I've missed my window. Then my boyfriend said there's loads.'

Adding: 'I want to surprise people. I've had nothing to say so why am I going to say anything. Every album is always going to follow 21, so I can't include it in any expectations of anything I do again.'

Talking about her past success, Adele told the host: 'I obviously have an ego, so the fact it did well, that fed my ego,' before adding: 'Gah! It was phenomenal, a big part of my life.'

Following the playing of the single, she spoke of her relief and admitted she had struggled to write the chorus.

She later said: 'I did write an album about being a mum. but that was pretty boring, so I scrapped that.'

Nick asked how Adele managed to stay so grounded despite her fame.

She said: 'Sometimes I have my days and my moments, not all the time, when I think I just want to be on a yacht all the time. But I don't want to be on a yacht. I'm scared of the sea. I find fame quite toxic. It doesn't last so you'll miss it when it goes. I like the way my life is. No one else in my life is famous, so they would think I am an idiot if lived my like like that.

'I do shop at Waitrose these days. That's the biggest change,' she laughed.

'And I've got a plasma.'

Talking about her relief now her single has been released, she said: 'I thought it was never going to happen. I would do stuff and my team would say, "it's not good enough, go back to the drawing board."' It's been a long time coming.

'My favourite song from the album is When We Were Young, so I can't wait for people to hear that.'

Adele also said that she might consider doing a worldwide tour, but said she hadn't yet made up her mind as it can be 'lonely.'

It's been nearly five years since the release of her last studio album.

In posts on her Facebook and new Instagram pages, the London-born singer confirmed her long-awaited album would be released on November 20 along with the cover art.

She captioned the image: '25 out November 20th.'

In comparison to her previous album covers which features the star with her eyes closed, this time the 27-year-old is starring directly into the camera in the black and white shot.

Her make-up is immaculately done with smoky black eyeliner and long lashes as she gazes wistfully at the camera.

The moody atmospheric shot is typical of Adele's previous album and single artwork.

Perhaps her confident striking pose on the cover reflects the album's content, which is said to be a 'make-up record' and more 'adult' than her previous offerings.

Adele's last album 21 came out in January 2011 - before the singer met her now-partner Simon Konecki -  14 years her senior - and went on to become a mother to son Angelo, who was born in October 2012.

She briefly came out of hiatus in late 2012 to record the theme song for Bond movie Skyfall and went on to win an Oscar, Golden Globe and Brit Award.

In a letter posted on her Facebook page on Wednesday, Adele explained to fans the process behind her new material.

It began: 'When I was 7, I wanted to be 8. When I was 8, I wanted to be 12. When I turned 12 I just wanted to be 18. Then after that I stopped wanting to be older. Now I'm ticking 16-24 boxes just to see if I can blag it! I feel like I've spent my whole life so far wishing it away.'

'Always wishing I was older, wishing I was somewhere else, wishing I could remember and wishing I could forget too. Wishing I hadn't ruined so many good things because I was scared or bored.'

'Wishing I wasn't so matter of fact all the time. Wishing I'd gotten to know my great grandmother more, and wishing I didn't know myself so well, because it means I always know what's going to happen. Wishing I hadn't cut my hair off, wishing I was 5ft 7in. Wishing I'd waited and wishing I'd hurried up as well.

She went on to explain that she had matured over the last few years and was no longer interested in obsessing over the past.

'My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record. I'm making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did.

'But I haven't got time to hold onto the crumbs of my past like I used to. What's done is done.Turning 25 was a turning point for me, slap bang in the middle of my twenties.

'Teetering on the edge of being an old adolescent and a fully-fledged adult, I made the decision to go into becoming who I'm going to be forever without a removal van full of my old junk.'

She continued: 'I miss everything about my past, the good and the bad, but only because it won't come back. When I was in it I wanted out! So typical. I'm on about being a teenager, sitting around and chatting s**t, not caring about the future because it didn't matter then like it does now.

'The ability to be flippant about everything and there be no consequences. Even following and breaking rules... is better than making the rules.

'25 is about getting to know who I've become without realising. And I'm so sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.'

Last week, Adele whipped her fans into a frenzy after apparently teasing a snippet of her new song with a mysterious 30-second advert during The X Factor.

In August it was reported that she had been working on new music with the likes of OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, who produced and co-wrote Rumour Has It on 21, Gnarls Barkley's Brian Burton and other music luminaries.
