Speaking to Complex magazine, he said: 'It's like, dad bod goes viral. Like really? I mean, a) I don't have to be in front of the camera for a couple months and b) I really am a dad.

'I'm okay because I've had the best body in New York City for decades.

'There is no love lost there for me. I sing on my Facebook. You don't get more dangerous than that, right? I was a bouncer at 17. I play fat roles sometimes.'

The father-of-three shared a very hunky picture to his Instagram account on Sunday, just a week after he was spotted with more of a rounded stomach in Florida.

The actor can be seen lifting up his T-shirt in the picture, showing off a glimpse of his boxers, while wearing jeans and a designer pair of sunglasses.

He captioned the image with the words: 'The pic from yesterday... For those who wanted the show... For all the angels that love dad bod regardless...'

Just last week, the actor took his shirt off while basking in the Florida humidity, on the balcony of The Shore Club, as he smoked on a cigarette.

The actor, who is best known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise of films wore just a pair of shorts for his time out in the Miami sunshine.

Diesel recently announced he is reprising his role as Xander Cage from successful 2002 action flick xXx.

He told his 10million followers: 'While I was filming XXX, guys on set called me Air Diesel...

'The time to return has come. Filming starts December in the Philippines.#ILiveForThisS***.'

He's also spent the past couple of days promoting his latest movie project The Last Witch Hunter, which is slated for release on October 23.

Starring Rose Leslie and Elijah Wood, it tells the story of all that stands between humanity and the combined forces of the most horrifying witches in history.

He told Associated Press that the role, in which he plays an immortal character, helped him to deal with the grief of losing his dear friend Paul Walker.

'Death was a huge theme last year,' he said. 'There was something therapeutic about playing this role after going through [Walker's death].'

'The idea that someone immortal could be so melancholy. 2014 was a tough year for me in some ways — a lot of ways.

'Playing a character that was masking his sorrow — his loss — was very appropriate for the time, because that's what I was doing in real life with the post-Furious 7.'
