As his England team-mates began their Test series against Pakistan, Steven Finn was forced to watch from the sidelines after being ruled out with a foot injury.
The 26-year-old was confirmed to have suffered a 'bone stress injury' and was pictured hobbling around the Zayed Cricket Stadium on crutches.
The news came as a bitter blow to England, who were hoping Finn could cause the Pakistani batsmen problems with his height and bounce on the bowling surface.

Captain Alastair Cook spoke on Monday about being hopeful the Middlesex bowler can play some part in the remaining Tests.
He said: 'It's a bitter blow for him, he's had a huge 12 months. Hopefully he'll be right for the second Test.'
Then asked whether he was in contention despite his injury, the skipper added: 'Absolutely, he was. His performance in that warm-up game was good.
'After the warm-up game, he complained of a pain in his foot. Yesterday he bowled pretty well in the nets, and got through. But obviously it's got worse.'
