Detectives have launched a murder probe after a man in his 40s was stabbed to death by a gang of young men.  The victim is thought to have been stabbed during an 'altercation' with a group of around five youths or young men.  A neighbour said the injured man was ringing on all the flat buzzers for help before eventually a woman answered and came to his aid.  Police were called to a housing estate in Basildon, Essex, at around 9.30pm on Tuesday (20/10 .  The man, who lived in the town, was treated by paramedics and an air ambulance crew before being rushed to Basildon Hospital where he died from his injuries.  Some residents have been told not to leave their homes and some children have missed school as forensic officers work on the street.

Chris Carroll, 20, of Pevensey Close, Pitsea in Essex, a 17-year-old boy from Pitsea, a 16-year-old boy from Basildon and a girl aged 15 from Pitsea have been remanded in custody.

Four emus that managed to escaped their backyard home and go for a run in a Round Rock, Texas, neighborhood were contained Friday, police there said. Police were notified of the animal escape in the Forest Creek neighborhood at about 2 p.m. Thursday. On Friday, the Round Rock Police Department posted a video of the birds and tweeted: 'Good news! The #emus have been safely contained and are on their way home with the owner.' The owner of the birds, Lori Kessler, says she didn't know how Emmitt, Huey, Dewey and Louie escaped her fenced-in backyard, but did note the gate to the backyard was open when she got home from work. Local media reported the emus were herded into a yard by Williamson County livestock deputies.
