Why DO so many of my fellow black stars want whiter skin? MICA PARIS poses question as Beyonce reveals her palest shade yet

As Beyonce steps out in her palest shade yet MICA PARIS asks why do black stars want

When Beyonce stepped out in New York this week in a revealing pink dress, she looked different. Closer inspection confirmed the reason - her skin paler than ever. With her tumbling blonde hair, the world's highest-paid black music star of all time looked more Caucasian (centre, right). Not only does it send the message that she is not good enough as she is, it also suggests that Queen Bee (pictured centre left in 2004) thinks she must alter the very fabric of her being to make herself more palatable to the masses. So why do all these women want to be whiter? Because the beauty ideal they all aspire to is blonde, blue-eyed; Aryan, no less. Pictured: Michael Jackson's sister Janet in 1980 (top right) and looking very different in 2013 (bottom right) and Rihanna at a Grammys party in 2007 (bottom left) and sporting a blonde hairstyle in 2012 (top left).

Being 007 has left me so battered I need a knee op, says Daniel Craig as he reveals he injured himself filming Spectre fight scene

007 has left me so battered I need a knee op says Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig, 47 (right), has revealed that just because the daring escapades he portrays on screen are fictional, it does not mean he is safe from injury. He told yesterday how he is set to go under the knife yet again because of a knee injury he picked up while filming a fight scene for Spectre (pictured inset) with the hulking villain Mr Hinx. And this is far from the first time Craig had taken a beating in the line of duty. The sculpted body that emerged from the sea during 2006's Casino Royale has been repeatedly put through the ringer (shown left) during his nine years as Bond and, with the stunts becoming more breathtaking in each film, the injuries are becoming more serious. But Spectre's knee injury appears to be the most serious knock yet, requiring two sessions of surgery to put Craig back on track. The knee injury threatened to halt filming for six months and push back the release date for the film until 2016, but the actor was determined to work through the pain.

Baby saved by emergency heart op after catching cold in the womb: 14-month-old toddler is picture of health after two brushes with death

PICTURE - MARK LARGE ... 21.08.15 ...
Tina Cank with her baby son Austin, 14months.
When Tina, 31, got the sniffles at 12 weeks pregnant she wasn?t unduly concerned. However, she still mentioned she?d had a cold to her midwife who reassured her all was well.
However, at a routine scan a few weeks later Tina, whose husband, also 31 works as an analyst in the City, was horrified to be told there was a problem with her unborn baby?s heart. Shockingly while the viral infection she?d had seemed mild, it had crossed the placenta. The couple were forced to spend the rest of the pregnancy on tenterhooks not knowing if their baby would survive when he was born. And then as a tiny baby he had to undergo heart surgery. Now aged 14 months, he is at last clear and will have a normal life.
But Tina will always wonder if something could have been done at the time when she mentioned it to medics. She had no idea getting a cold in pregnancy could have proved deadly to her baby boy.

Sitting happily on his mother's lap in Leicester, Austin Cank looks a picture of health. But at 14 months the toddler has already survived two brushes with death - the first while still in the womb.

Is the National Trust to blame for one of our grandest houses going up in smoke in

The clearing-up of Clandon Park, near Guildford in Surrey (shown right), still has a long way to go, even though many months have passed since the conflagration which caused all this. That this salvage operation is still a work in progress reflects the severity of the blaze (inset) which destroyed the ancient seat of the Earls of Onslow in April this year (shown top left). Even now, no one is sure quite how many treasures have been lost. And six months on, there are more questions than ever. Last weekend, the gates to the gardens closed for good. Nothing more has been decided. But the longer all these questions go unanswered, the more outsiders, art historians and members of the family who gave this great home to the nation in 1956 are demanding an explanation. Meanwhile, the National Trust has a single stock answer: 'Wait and see.' Pictured bottom left: The ornate plasterwork and stunning fireplace in one of the house's 80 rooms before the blaze.

Migrants storm the gates of Lesbos as UN warns women and children are being forced to have 'survival sex' with smugglers to continue their journey into Europe

Migrants storm the gates of Lesbos as UN warns refugees are forced to have 'survival sex'

Hundreds of exhausted migrants scrambled over each other - and the through a squad of riot police - at the Moria registration camp on the Greek island of Lesbos today (main, and top and bottom right). These latest scenes of desperation come amid a stark warning from the United Nations that migrant women and children are being forced to have 'survival sex' with smugglers to continue on their journey into Europe. UNHCR Spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said some of the stories of sexual abuse came from 'overcrowded reception sites' such as in Greece, the main point of entry for hundreds of thousands of migrants, but it appears to be happening in 'every single country'. More than 600,000 - a third of whom are believed to be women and children - have arrived in Europe this year. Greece took in a record 48,000 migrants in just five days this week - with more than 20,000 of them landing on the island of Lesbos (inset).
